Gabriel’s Message is one I really like, based on a 13th century basque carol. Here’s one of Sting’s versions. It would be fun to have all kinds of interesting musical arraingments to do this one for xmas. I love medievel liturgical music,. here’s one link to it. Enjoy
Side note, I was at a Pogues gig years and years ago, relatively close to the front, and one of Shane’s teeth fell out and into the crowd as he was singing - that man had some SERIOUS dental hygiene problems. I’m always surprised he’s still alive, but he’s cleaned himself up a lot now and has a good Irish woman keeping him on the straight and narrow.
Thank you, I’m finishing my shift at the hospital, and these are fabulous links to some great new stuff for me, and I will thoroughly enjoy diving into this stuff when I get home! Yay!
Oh, that breaks my heart for him. I’m sure he rolled with it, but teeth issues are so painful and difficult and bring such shame to people. Bless his heart. I hadn’t heard he’d gotten all cleaned up, but good man himself. I hope he got help with his teeth, too. I wish dental care was more prioritised in healthcare. I’ve known of folks who start having malnutrition issues just b/c of dentition issues. So heartbreaking.
His tooth loss was totally self inflicted by consuming elephantine quantities of drugs and alcohol as a younger man, and he’s now got false teeth. He’s wheelchair bound after a fall, but Victoria keeps him as well as she can. That he’s got to the age of 64, after the life he’s lead, boggles my mind.
I love this! I also listen to Gregorian Chants when I am needing some quiet reflection around Christmas. It’s so relaxing. The Vienna Boys Choir is back again this year, looking forward to the concert.
