Has ![](elanie been commentating on any of the more recent coverage? I’ve only seen the team XC so far… all this stuff usually airs when I’m out riding MY horse. Not fair! [IMG]http://www.chronofhorse.com/ubb/tongue.gif)
Portia, how wonderful. I keep thinking of the Pony Club statement that includes the words “for the sake of the game well played.” Well worth cheering, whatever the sport or the competitor.
UNLIKE Miss spit-in-your-opponent’s lane Amy Van Dyken. Have to say I’m glad that lass lost.
I LOVED that the Australian 3-day team won gold in front of their home crowd. What a thrill for the team and the crowd!!!

I have a video I recorded from TV several years ago… was the World Cup held in Los Angeles sometime in the mid-nineties? If so, that’s what it was. Anyway, it features Anky, Bonfire, & their “Song Sung Blue” kur… absolute magic! It was the first time I ever saw them, & I lost my heart that day… to me they’re THE best, bar none. Their passage/piaffe tour was so perfectly in sync with the music, & so gorgeously expressive, that I cried watching it.
Go Anky & Bonfire!

Thank goodness, no. She was not doing the cross country. I’m sure she’ll be doing the stadium tonight. Ick…ick…ick. (Words are sometimes better than a face.)
I have to agree Anne FS. Amy van Dyken is a pig - always has been. By contrast, Inge de Bruijn (in whose lane AVD spit) is one of the most genuine, gracious women you’d ever want to meet. Congrats, Inge!!
I’m anxious to see how Inge’s countrywoman Anky does. I loved the music she used in the freestyle for the 98 WEG. Does anyone know if she is using the same arrangement?
BTW, David O’Connor is singlehandedly making a convert of my non-horsey husband who sat in front of the TV and cried when O’Connor got all choked up talking about Custom Made. In guy terms, O’Connor earned the highest praise from the hubby - “He’s solid.”

Too special…
DO you mean her “Song Sung Blue” Kur music Inverness? I think that’s what she’s using - she had it revamped this year for the World Cup final in the spring. Had an orchestra record it for her! It does totally suit them, doesn’t it?
Can’t imagine a better winner and I’m proud he’s one of our own. Last night my heart was in my throat when he almost went off course… And after the win during the interview he started to get misty eyed talking about his love for Custom Made. Melanie’s article told how he later went back to the barn and put a halter on grazed him bareback. What a prince of guy. Karen is a lucky lady!
I think Jair is right. I remember reading somewhere recently, athough I’m not sure where, about her having an orchestra record the music she’s going to use and that it was the same song(s) she’d used before.
Very touching!
Yes, the Kur (these dressagie terms, sigh!) I don’t remember it being “song sung blue” (I get this horrible image of Neil Diamond).
I thought her music was a derivation of Karl Orf’s Carmina Burana. Am I confusing her w/one of the other competitors?
Is it just me, or does it seem she’s toned down the attitude a bit?
David talking about his horse had me in tears. Them playing the theme music from “Man From Snowy River” during the victory gallow had me choked up. And the 120 horses in the opening ceremony with that music had me sobbing like the true emotional sap that I really am.
At the WEG, Anky rode to tunes from a broadway show. I can’t remember which one, but I kept getting distracted singing the songs in my head and knowing what gait was coming next by which tune came up.
I think it was Isabelle who said she was keeping the same music as Atlanta which included “Just a Gigolo”.
You know what I liked? When David was lost, the whole crowd starting yelling, the wall, the wall!" to direct him. The Aussie favorite of that mostly Aussie crowd, Andrew Hoy, would’ve won gold if David had gone off course, too, but the crowd reaction was to speed the American on the correct way. And that is the Olympic spirit. Gotta love it!
If I remember correctly, Anky had a piece called “Bonfire’s Symphony” especially composed for her. But I’m not sure exactly when she used it…
A quick web search turned up a few articles on her freestyles using music from West Side Story, including a demo at Madison Square Garden last year (I think). She has also, apparently, used “Song Sung Blue”:

Apparently she has a new freestyle this year, pieced together from soundtracks she’s used before. I found an article on it here:

Not sure how recent that news is though, so don’t take it as gospel! Maybe someone with more time can do a more thorough web search.

Okay, okay so here I am in the office reading about David O’Conner grazing his horse bareback after winning the gold and crying all over my keyboard! Thanks a lot…
Bonfire’s Symphony was her Atlanta music. WEG was West Side Story.
Awwwwwwwwww… It’s so nice to see good things happen to good people who truly love and care for their partners.
Me too, Weatherford, me too.
