Michael/ Lauren civil trial update February 9

I remember when KK opened in my area when I was in high school, people camped out overnight to get in line! Lol. Back in my teens, a hot fresh KK donut with milk and a rocking metabolism was a great match. But now? No way Jose. Since demand has declined it’s harder to get a fresh one and they are just too sweet for me now.

DD is trying SO HARD to get a handle on the west coast market. I don’t care for any of their offerings at all - sub par donuts and weak coffee. No thank you. I’ll stick to my local mom & pop donut shop that makes excellent sprinkle donuts and always throws in a few donut holes for free.

There is a great documentary on Netflix called “the donut king” which explains why there are so many independent donut shops in so cal. It’s really well done and interesting. I never ate many donuts before I moved here, but there is a donut shop in every mini mall!

That’s a hot take - it’s like saying you don’t like cookies and milk or hate ice cream! This might become the most contentious topic on this entire thread!! (Kidding!)

I’m in Ohio and had a hard time finding decent donuts. I try to stay away from DD, and there really aren’t too many around. I would have to drive a ways away to find one. I stick to starblech for my coffee, yummmmmy, but found and independent shop to deliver me donuts and a Brugger’s Bagels to deliver bagels. I left the north east land of seafood and home of the best pizza on earth to come to the worst food I’ve ever eaten. They don’t even do a decent steak here, and you’d think this is the start of the mid west where there would be some cow flesh. All they eat here is (barf) pork. And its the worst “barbeque”. Over cooked and everyghing else is deep fried. Gawd, people. Anyway. I will come home to real food again, someday.

Um… People… Um…

It is very confusing to some of us why you (general) keep talking about Kirby Kanarek (@Seeker1) and her donuts, because in this thread KK is Kirby Kanarek. Can we come up with a different acronym for the donut place?

Will this work?

KK! = Krispy Kreme

I figure the ! and italics can be used to make it clear we’re not discussing a person.

Passed the KKDonuts today and it’s still drawing a crowd.

The little mom and pop shops who make hand cut donuts are to die for! If I’m going to ruin my diet with a donut it’s one from a local shop!

Ninety -some posts mostly about donuts without CH or HH (or IM or KK) in sight.
Sounds like Sweet treats deserve a thread of their own.

The smell of coffee makes me nauseous. Donuts are too cloying and I don’t like the texture.

And I like cookies, but not milk, and most certainly not together. I don’t usually eat a lot of ice cream either. I prefer a frozen yoghurt or a sorbet.

Coffee and donuts give me heartburn. I love them, just not together…

I moved from Co to Ohio in middle school. It’s very low-budget 19th century German food.
Is think the pastries would be good though!

If you find yourself in Ft. Wayne, Indiana and it’s still open (no idea) Shigs In Pit is terrific. Get their beef brisket “burnt ends”.

Starblech :joy:

This is the go-to place for donuts in my hometown. Just reading the menu makes my mouth water!

That’s what happens after the sugar rush from eating too many doughnuts.
