I’d watch this event in a heartbeat!
I’d watch this event in a heartbeat!
It would certainly provide the excitement those wishing to promote MP as a spectator sport seem to feel they need in the equestrian competition!
They can use my mare for that. They don’t even have to pay me… in fact, I’ll pay them as long as I get good seats!!
Sadly, it is blocked for non Canadian addresses
Of course, individuals could take video clips with their phone of portions of the CBC playback showing on the TV, and then post those smaller video clips on SoMe platforms like Insta, TikTok, etc. But that’s probably legally questionable…
I do think it’s noteworthy that you can’t find video of the Rio pentathlon jumping rounds… men’s or women’s… ANYWHERE on the web. From the comments I have seen… it was an absolute disaster as well. It leads one to believe that they(World Pentathlon) were already well aware they had both an embarrassing, and a welfare/safety concern going on in the sport, and simply tried to bury the evidence of it, and hope Tokyo went better. And Tokyo clearly DIDN’T go better.
I can understand that there is a bit of a pr feeding frenzy going on right now, and video footage of the whole event from both Olympics would be scrutinized by people like all of us if it actually was available for viewing… but deliberately hiding it is not a great look for the sport either right now.
Yes and all very similar things I witnessed[quote=“aredhel, post:799, topic:762394”]
And ALL the loaner horses should be chestnut mares!

I think my Penny has proven this isn’t that bad of an idea! #chestunutsarebestnuts
Someone might have already shared this article… I apologize if I am being repetitive. If not… it’s worth a read.
His description of what happened to the Canadian rider in Barcelona with a horse falling… and the official not permitting a substitution?!? W.T.F.
The suggestions of lower, but more technical courses with skinnies and bending lines, as well as two stages for the jumping competition? I think both are excellent.
Pony Finals. I remember that. That’s where ponies die in the stabling at the hands of ambitious horse show moms.
I already said that yesterday. Ignoring is the best response but not when they provide disinformation due to sheer incompetence! She stated that In Germany Gags are very illegal in competitions besides Polo.* (which gags, what discipline???), but this is utter nonsense. For clarification, I must say they are allowed from M Class (aka 1.20m) and up in show jumping.
I was wondering about the accuracy of that statement on her part, but didn’t engage.
Gags and leverage bits can all be horribly harsh… or an appropriate choice for certain horses… it depends upon the hands and skill of the rider holding the reins. Which brings us back to Annika Schleu, and her riding style. Just my opinion, but from watching her London 2012 round, and then parts of her Tokyo meltdown, and taking into account @JER ‘s prior comments about Annika’s well established and well known riding style… she is exactly the sort of rider that shouldn’t be on a horse that goes in a gag or elevator bit, hackamore, or (fill in the blank). She clearly didn’t grasp the concept of adjusting one’s application of the aids when using that sort of bit… and the result was an obviously upset horse, who wouldn’t go forward.
True or not:
- It does not negate the wonderfulness of the kids being good sports and showing good horsemanship. Something that should totally be celebrated. Kids doing right!
- What a wonderful example, once again of - Ignore my sport because other sports do stupid things.
Probably no smiles from the person who parked in the wrong place and got their car forklifted to another location. (Video on Facebook)
Would have loved to have seen their face when they got back to where they thought they left their car!
Oh no, you can not share something like this without sharing a link to the video.
That’s a low blow, JER.
Your sport has trouble so let’s try to distract by pointing to a huge todo over in kiddie land.
Whether or not that actually happened does NOTHING to negate years and years of 1) pony final riders being (mostly) very good sports and treating their animals with respect and 2) the pentathalon riders doing the opposite, up to & including abusing their horses on camera and bawling while doing it.
Why the FRICK are they allowed to get back on after the horse falling through a jump? A show mom going rogue is bad but this is in you G*D sport’s RULES!
Yup once you start to think at what times I might go to bed and whether I use my phone, I would consider this stalking…. And please explain to me how it contributes to this thread …
I am a little confused by your reaction towards me…… more or less we seem to be some of very few who have actual experience with Pentathlon etc riding borrowed horses….
And just saying I do agree about this pony thing…… that was extremely horrible and much much worse then what happened in Tokyo…. The pony died ….
Went back to find the link, and it’s been removed. Huge forklift, small car, they just picked it up and moved it as a rider on a pony walked by.
You have tact and softer hands . Sorry I can’t refrain myself from smiling…. I don’t really believe this would have solved the issue….
May I ask how many times you competed in events with borrowed horses?? How many different and new to you horses do you ride in general??
You sound well minded but a bit naive……
That’s where ponies die in the stabling at the hands of ambitious horse show moms.
I swear I’m not your stalker but man I’ve missed your posts
