I think that what you’re seeing as a “shoe” is actually the hoof wall.

The horse in the sling appears to have foundered at some point and she is “bringing him back” although the poor thing probably should have been euthed awhile ago.

There’s a lot of crazy in her albums.

I have been a member of the COTH forums for a while now. This is one of the most disturbing cases of animal abuse I have ever seen on here.

I saw the link to the Channel 3 news report posted on Facebook… I was skeptical as the story started- nice barn, clean stalls, horses in good weight… And then she brought out that poor bandaged horse and I almost lost my dinner.

I am not easily shocked, this is the most shocking thing I have ever seen. It’s so horribly disturbing, and her manic face while she’s ‘working’ on them all.
It would appear that her cats get the same treatment.

Okay I am a little sick to my stomach.
I don’t get it. I did see a whole lot of pictures of her riding nice looking horses bareback, A lot of nice looking horses lunging. A whole bunch of pics just posing for the camera. And then a link with all these bandaged feet.
Is she like a cutter? instead of maiming herself she does it to animals?
This is beyond sick. WHY is this nut case still owing horses? What can be done?

Monica Thors Horse Investigation : This has been and continues to be an active Criminal Investigation. This is a joint investigation by the NJ Dept of Ag and the NJSPCA. NJSPCA plans to issue Animal Cruelty charges in the near future in this case. To those demanding immediate removal of the horses, that process if and when it arises is a major operation that involves numerous Equine Rescue groups and possibly a nearby equine facility. Since NJSPCA involvement began this facility has been monitored regularly. We have also been planning ahead trying to organize volunteers, boarding facility and transportation. Instead of hurling demands and insults on our Facebook page because of this long, complex case and investigation if you can assist in anyway when we are actually allowed to remove the horses; go to njspca.org and use the contact tab to explain how you can help. If the horses are removed there will be a need for places to hold one or more horses, transportation for the horses and yes we would seek donations to provide for food and Veterinary care. Again IF YOU CAN HELP in the future please contact us through the website. Details about this case will be released after the adjudication not before. What on Earth… ?
At first I thought that maybe she had fancied herself as a rescuer and was doing rehab work on laminitis cases, but after looking through the albums that seems less and less likely. The whole thing is so bizarre. The barn looks gorgeous and clean and the horses shiny and fat and painfully crippled.

I think what you’re seeing is pretty accurate. Extremely crippled horses made so by a woman who has been continuously filing and using a dremel to strip the horses of their hoof walls.

In many of the photos the horses are wearing softride boots. It looks like maybe she bandages right over top of the boots.

The horses and other animals need to be rescued, and then this woman needs help.

I’m no psychology expert, but it looks/sounds like maybe some extreme form of OCD. (One other post says she has 100 cats and bathes them every day and cuts off their whiskers and trims their nails. You may notice the barn is also freakishly clean.)
