More. Kittens. OMG

So a quick update: the vet called me before taking Schuyler to surgery to discuss whether we should do it at this time. He absolutely agrees that the eye has to be removed, but after observing Schuyler in the crate and examining the eye further, he’s hopeful that we might be able to wait another couple of weeks (he’s hoping for a month), so that Schuyler is bigger and better able to handle the surgery. He said although there are blood vessels to the eye, he doesn’t think there are any nerve endings left, which is why Schuyler doesn’t squint the eye or keep it closed; he literally just doesn’t feel it.

So we agreed to push it off a bit longer. He said that if the eye starts to ‘melt’ (his word, not mine, and no, I’m NOT going to Google it!) then to call his cell phone and we’d do it right then, but we’re hoping to wait just a couple more weeks at least.

Its always better if they’re bigger and stronger so jingles that he has no issues waiting a couple of weeks!

Give all those ragamuffins a squeeze and a kiss for me. I’m going to foster another litter I think. All these kitten pics are giving me baby fever. :joy:

I’m not googling it either.

Yes, I’ve seen “melted” eye and you are right it is not pretty.

Jingling for Little Schuyler.

I went through a similar thing with my cat Sonnet when she was a kitten. Despite the eye looking pretty sketchy from the moment her eyes opened, she was able to keep it for several months (meaning I was able to get her spayed and do the enucleation in the same surgery). I hope things go as well for Schuyler!

How are the vicious little kittens doing today?

They’re good - playing like crazy! My legs are going to be permanently scarred. But they’re so sweet, you can’t get mad at them. Especially when they curl up in my lap and purr.

I know. The purring and snuggling is the best. Those little scissor paws the worst. :joy:

Especially when it seems to never occur to them to RETRACT THEIR CLAWS.

I’m not sure what this was about. Noodle was just very sure she was going to go somewhere with the comforter.

They think they’re 10 feet tall and bulletproof. Sometimes their antics make me cringe.

The truly scary thing is - all 3 of them know how to “make the screen move.” As in, they KNOW that if they touch my phone or iPad screen, they can make something happen. They get very disappointed when the phone screen is locked. They’ll keep swiping at it. The iPad stays safely tucked away.

Just keep an eye on your credit card bills in case they start ordering stuff off Chewy and Amazon!
