Noodle’s home! I caught my feral tom today and took him to the vet for brain surgery, and picked her up while I was there. She’s feisty and happy to be home - chewed me out ALL the way for leaving her there. She’s on antibiotics for another 2 days, but as the vet tech said, ā€œshe’s eating and eating and eating!ā€

I hope your vet offers a ā€œfrequent flyerā€ program for you!

Glad she is home and that the Mister is getting his overdue surgery.

Noodle, extra vet care is not something to be jealous of your brother about! Glad you are feeling better, tho.

Hopefully catching the feral tom = less feral kittens in the future. You need a break!

Glad Noodle is home and feeling better!

I’m glad she’s home and felt good enough to give you a piece of her mind. :joy:

How is the pirate ship doing? Is the crew staying in line?

Oh, yes! They were on their own most of Friday and part of Saturday, as I was at a conference out of town (drove there both days, so I could be home at night), and they were SO HAPPY to see me. They haven’t left me alone, in fact, which - when you’re trying to edit, and read, and eat - can be slightly annoying. But how can you say no to that?

Cute story from yesterday - my dad (who doesn’t like cats) came over, and I heard him call for me. ā€œWhat’s wrong with this cat’s eye?ā€ He’d sat down, and Schuyler had jumped in his lap, and my dad thought he was holding his eye closed. So I explained the surgery, and then he just sat there and petted Schuyler for a bit. So weird.

Not weird.
Dads are Bluffers & Softies inside.
There’s a ton of memes showing ā€œDad says No cats!ā€ then a pic of Dad loving on cat.

Awww

Maybe he’s mellowing with age. My dad sure did.

Years ago two different dumped kittens showed up on my doorstep (about two years apart) on weekends. I had three cats but my dad, who lives in a bigger house on the same property had just one and clearly needed more cats!

Both times I carried the kitten down to show him and both times he said to set up the dog crate for them in his garage and he would drop them off at the shelter when it opened on Monday. There was no way more cats were going to live here. Ever. No matter what.

Less that 12 hours later, each of these kittens had been moved into his house and not another word was said about sending them away. He just had to act tough about them initially to retain his manly credentials. I like to encourage this behavior, so I’ve never once mentioned that he went back on his threat to take them to the shelter. As much as I’d like to give him a hard time about it.

The kittens also had names (Minnie and Sweet Pea) within about two hours and are still the most spoiled cats ever!

This reminds me of the time someone dumped a black Lab puppy (about 5 months old, give or take) at our house. He was about the goofiest thing ever, but so destructive - Mom and Dad came home one afternoon to find that he’d chewed through a support beam on the front porch, for example. Dad was fed up. Mom said she’d take him to the shelter.

She loaded him in the car. Was gone about half an hour. Came home. Dog was with her.

The next day, I went with her. We got to the shelter. She looked in the back seat at this big stupid goofy puppy, and started crying. We went home. With the dog.

The day after that, DAD drove her and the dog to the shelter. Actually, they were only gone about ten minutes. They came home. With the dog. Not another word was said about taking the dog anywhere. That dog was Doofus, and he ended up saving my dad’s life several years later. He also liked to bring me armadillos (alive, yes) and when I got home from work, he’d grab any piece of trash he could find - a leaf or a stick, even - and bring it to me. He turned out to be a really great dog, once he grew up.

Can use some jingles for Mulligan - he started to act lethargic yesterday, and felt hot, so I ran him to the vet this morning. Temp of 105.7. Vet immediately whisked him to the back to start fluids and meds. He thinks it’s viral (probably the same thing Noodle had last week), so Mulligan will likely stay for the weekend, or at least overnight.

At least I left early enough to be #3 in line, rather than #23 like last time.

Jingles for Mulligan! I hope he bounces back quickly. This has been a sickly litter of kittens.

They have had more than their share of being sick, for sure! Of course, if this is a virus, there’s a good chance Schuyler will be next.
