You and me both! I started a side job in the fall that basically took over my life, and I’m ashamed to admit that I have not ridden much since. Needless to say, the horses are all out of shape too. Where are you located? I might have something for you.
Massachusetts since COTH doesn’t seem to think that MA is a complete sentence.
I wish I were closer! I’m all the way down in Texas. I’ve got one that I call my idiot-proof horse. I’m on the fence about selling him, because he’s a nice mover and I love his temperament
Darn it! Most of the horses I am finding that I like seem to be very far away.
Yes we are and dam good at it.
Found a proper drinking vessel for us.
Something to save for this year’s COTH Secret Santa…
My first thought when seeing that was - who can I buy this for? I have to think of someone that needs this.
Mud. I’m over the mud. It’s “afternoon thunderstorm” season and it just keeps bringing back the thick, sticky mud. 90-something and muddy is always unpleasant.
Yep.
Bert looks quite happy with his mud coating so he does not get what you are complaining about.
He is so freaking cute.
He was giving me the hairy eyeball from afar because he accidentally touched the fence while waiting for breakfast alfalfa
How dare that fence attack him like that.
He looks so much rounder here…and caked mud is natures traditional fly repellant.
He’s just providing you with many wonderful opportunities to make sure he’s getting really hose proof.
I would love to give him an actual bath, but… we’re not there yet. I’m keen to get him cleaned up and mane trimmed so he looks like a real boy and not a wild field muffin
When we were working on the spray bottle the other day, I have to say - both boys seemed awfully perturbed that it wasn’t full of fly spray Sorry buds, not wasting expensive fly spray misting the ground while you come to terms with your feelings. Once you are solidly standing for spray, then you get the good stuff that keeps the bugs off.
step 1.
We got about 2/3 of the way done before Bert reminded me that he is still only two and the reservoir of patience is not bottomless. That top section also happens to be the one that has glue tag remnants stuck in it plus mud clumps, and so is super-extra-tangled. We will work on it more this weekend.
He is becoming much more at ease. I brought a hoof pick to our feet picking up lessons today and am proud to say that Bert now has one willingly picked-out hoof.
Ernie gets the afternoon off because it’s hot out there and I’m sweaty.
