Came here late to say sorry for your losses and buy the damn Morgan!
You guys are amazing (as I figured you would be — we do love to enable each other!!). Now I’m super-excited— please cross your fingers for me on Sunday! I’ll report back for sure.
Not to sound too self-pitying and whiny, but this last year I lost my best friend, my mom, and now two beloved horses. It can always be worse and I have very much to be grateful for — but thinking about this baby has made me feel more positive and excited than I have been in months. Horses break hearts but also heal them
I don’t know if you know the slogan?
Morgans: the horse that chooses you.
They are the BEST horses. Unbelievable work ethic, very smart, super people-oriented, and will help you with every single task you have, whether you want them to or not (I get excellent supervision pasture picking poop. LOL).
I have three, two bought as yearlings (now 21 and 16), and the youngest I bought at a day old - he’s 3 now and just started under saddle.
I always say to have a Morgan you have to have a great deal of patience and a really good sense of humor.
Good luck on Sunday! I hope he’s awesome!
And if he’s not awesome, there are more Morgans out there. Pick the one that feels right. Our stomachs/guts know. …
Sadly the mare I posted above is one of those with PSSM1. She has Amberfields Desperado as her grand sire. She is asymptomatic and I only tested because of all the cases that were emerging linked to his pedigree. Was quite surprised to get a positive result. She’s listed in the Morgan Health Database and won’t be bred. I applaud all the breeders who are testing breeding stock and listing status of foals for sale. I hope we see that continue. Next time I buy I will be including testing in my PPE if it isn’t already available.
Bummer. But good that you tested and you can manage things to keep her asymptomatic. I tested my mare because she did exhibit some things that could be PSSM; she is negative. It is a shame that stallion was a carrier as he has so very many descendants. The Morgan Health Database is a wonderful source for info.
I went. I fell in love. He’s coming home this week
Someone mentioned “a Morgan chooses you” — I think we have a good shot
Aw, congratulations! He is so cute and looks like a great candidate to mend your broken heart. Here’s to many happy days together!
Congratulations! I hope you have many happy years together.
Rebecca
Congrats!!! He’s a cutie!!
Yay! Congrats!
Love the pictures!
Don’t know how I missed this post. I’m so terribly sorry for your losses. I can’t imagine the pain of losing two so close together. {{{Hugs}}}
Congratulations on the new member of the family! So happy for you and your new baby. He is so cute!! You know this means you are stuck with giving us updates/photos as he grows and comes along.
So many congrats to you and this adorable guy! Nothing better than a plain bay in my opinion!!
Congratulations!!! He’s freakin’ adorable!!
Congratulations!
Thanks so much, everyone!! I feel like I’m about 9 years old again. I think I NEEDED this face in my life . And @MorganMaresVT — I agree, I love me a plain brown wrapper!

@Hattie Friend had a Ginormous Spanish Norman she competed CDE into his late teens.
I first saw him as a long yearling offered for sale by another friend.
If I could have justified adding #3 I’d have taken him then.
When he was retired she got a spicy Morgan mare & is having The.Best.Time!
I think there’s the added benefit of this being a baby and thus quite different from your previous ones in how you relate to him; it’s not a direct comparison; but a different relationship unique to you two.
You may find yourself feeling a bit maternal, which is comfortable and homey.
Awe he’s my favorite color! My bay Morgan is just as people friendly. I can’t finish cleaning his stall unless I hug and scratch him, only then, will he let me finish…geesh! LOL
Hope you have tons of fun with this one.
So happy for you Fargaloo! He looks like a good 'un.
