Definitely do the slim. The leather is very soft and will have some stretch. You may not be able to zip them up over breeches for a few days, but if you wear them around the house with shorts, you’ll be fine.
Many thanks to all the great replies!
I think I will try a pair and hope for the best

Your overall height doesn’t matter too much. What is your measurement from the floor up the back of your calf to mid knee? I always measure to mid-knee or slightly higher so they aren’t too short then they break down. (They are nice and soft so they will break down nice.) If you are a 7.5 (I am), I would go down to the 7s. I have found that the footbed tends to run a bit big in sizes smaller than 9. My mom is a true 9 and that size is perfect, but I’m a 7.5-8 and the 8s were huge on me.
I hopped onto the MH website and they have nice size charts. The height for the 7 supremes is 18.9" but they will break down some too.
Hope this helps! I only wore my pair to 1 show (I have Richmonds for schooling) so I can’t comment on the durability, but I can testify that I only wore them around the house for a day before showing and they didn’t hurt me one bit! YAY for no more new-boot torture!

YES!! I felt the same way!!!

I wish they’d come out with this in a dress boot. Sigh…
They do have them in a dress boot. I got a pair in July and I LOVE them!!!
Anyone else have pics of them in these?
I was going for the semi-custom Der Daus but they are backordered for eternity so I think I’m going to give these a try.
Here is a pic of me in my dress boots at a schooling show last month:

P.S. No snarky comments about the hair bow My hair is too thick for a bun…

Cool, thanks!
I am having the hardest time finding boots that I like
These look as soft as my Der Dau’s but with a nice orthopedic footbed.
But like I said, the Dover rep told me that I was too short (I’m 5’5") to wear them :(
I’m 5’5 and mine fit great if that helps. - the first week or so i couldn’t zip them up all the way or they dug into the back of my knees, but after about a week they dropped and now they are super comfortable!
it’s so nice to know other people have big feet too
i have a size 10 pair of mountain horse paddock boots and i love them.
they are seriously the most comfortable boots i’ve ever worn.
i feel that MH does run a little big, which adds to the comfort factor.
not the same thing, of course, but just saying
That does help!!
I think I am going to bite the bullet and just buy a pair -at most it costs a few bucks in s/h to try them on
Oh how I wish that I had better local shopping!!

So I got mine today and they are FABULOUS!!!
They are in no way too tall. I am usually a size 7.5 US, 14" calf, 17" behind the knee. The 7 Mediums fit fine!!
If anything I could wish that the calf fit more snugly but then again maybe that’s just me expecting to suffer when I even think about tall boots.
I can’t wait to ride in these!!!
hmmmm…I am hoping they are in Canada at this point and maybe will put them on my Christmas list as I NEED new field boots. I’m just worried about the height…from the floor I need at least a 20" height and the biggest part of my calf measure slightly under 13.5" with a size 8 or 9 foot. Does anyone know how much they dropped/stretched?
Oh man! I WANT these! But why oh why don’t they make Slim in size 11??! Girls with big feet can have skinny legs too!
I wanted to post this picture here so that it would come up if people searched. Please excuse the dirty spur straps.
Mountain Horse Supreme:
I ordered the 10 regular and couldn’t get them to zip up past my ankle. tears because they were gorgeous!
So do you think if I order a wide then the ankle will be any larger?

I don’t know – it can’t hurt to try! And if they DO fit, they are worth it!
I have a 10 wide because I have a 16" calf and the ankles fit me fine. I never would have thought I had “small” ankles… My joints in general are large – large wrists, knuckles, etc.
What’s your calf measurement?
I’m digging up this thread because I would like people to share how these boots have stretched out for them! I just got my pair in the mail from SmartPak (yay!) and they are GORGEOUS. The height looks like it will be perfect for me–with the heel lifts in, they are just where I want them, so a little bit of drop should place them correctly. Crazy that I’m 5’4" and need boots this tall!
Anyway, the calf is…snug. I got both boots on (left is always easier than my strange right calf), but sitting in them for ~10 minutes led to throbbing. I’m wearing them over thin boot socks and my show breeches right now. I unzipped them from about 5" from the top and I’m perfectly fine now. The leather is so soft it seems like they will stretch out…but I don’t need boots this expensive just sitting around doing nothing if they won’t stretch to fit.
Did any of you guys have uncomfortably tight boots at first and now they’re perfect? I don’t like baggy boots, so I’m willing to go through with the pain of stretching them if it will pay off!
They will stretch! I couldn’t even get mine to zip completely right after I got them—I wore them around the house with shorts a few days before I even remotely considered putting them on over breeches. They are gorgeous now, though.
I have tiny ankles, so I do feel like the ankles stretched a bit more than I’d like. If/when I start riding again, I may take them over to Vogel and see if they’ll cut a little bit out of the ankle for me.

woohoo! Do you have an estimate of how much they stretch? like 1/4"?
I’ve had them for well over a year and they still look brand new Ride in them every day too!

I don’t know that they’d work for you. Your measurements are identical to mine (except my foot is a solid 9, no way would an 8 work) and the ones I tried on (9 slim tall) were a bit too wide, especially at the top of the boot. I also found them too “shapely” for my long skinny lower leg. If you could fit into the 8 it might work, so you could get a slimmer calf in the slim. The leather is very soft, they’d stretch, so I wouldn’t want to get them too loose in the calf.

I have a pair, absolutely gorgeous, and they’re sitting in the tack room waiting for me to take them to get patches. It only took me about 4 months to wear a hole through in the calf (riding about 3 horses a day on average.) I love them, just wish they were more durable
