MVP, what happened to our weekly cat threads? Mid-week Cat thread: Cats helping around the house

Happy Friday and happy almost New Year! I hope your cats have their Owners New Years Resolutions drafted up and ready. My household cats have agreed that my #1 resolution should be “timely delivery of food”.

Here’s Cupcake showing how a proper air-drop delivery is done:

Love her little exclamation at the end!
Was she trying to hit black cat? :scream_cat:
If so, maybe that little sound was a feline DRAT!

Certainly not true of all oranges, but I think it might be true of these 2. The first orange cat I had was definitely a high intellect and a thinker. He was the most gentle soul, too. I had decided to adopt Levi, the gray cat, and was still in the shelter, looking for a pal for him when the shy orange kitten behind me literally tapped me on the shoulder, looked me in the eyes, kneaded his bed, and clearly communicated “Pick me!” So I did, and never had a minute of regret. I was very fortunate with Levi and Jonesy (orange). They were perfect cats for me. Smart, could almost communicate telepathically, were never destructive or a burden. I am struggling a bit with these two new ones. They’re not as brainy or perceptive, sometimes they frustrate me, and I can see where the “One Brain Cell” notion came from. They are always doing something either stupid or potentially destructive. They need close supervision. But they are very affectionate, and I’m hoping that as I work with them more they’ll settle down and get more sense when they mature some. The cream colored one is Jake, and he’s like a drunk high school jock most of the time. lol

Our orange cat definitely only has one brain cell, and that single cell is bent on mayhem. We fostered him as a kitten, and then he went to the shelter to be adopted with his brothers and sisters, with the caveat that if he didn’t get adopted we would take him back (well, we said that about any of them but he was the only one who didn’t get quickly adopted). We went in to get him, musing about why he hadn’t found a home, and witnessed the following scene:

Small boy approaches the cage, saying “mummy, mummy, look, this one’s ever so nice!” at which point Nole reaches his paw out of the cage and SWIPES the kid’s hand, sending him running back to his mum. Nole came home 12 years ago and has been a delightful goof ever since.

I don’t remember if I posted this before or not. Not my kitty. But it looks like he’s good at his job.

Peach objects as well! She’s a smart one—smarter than me most of the time!

This is my tortoiseshell cat. Her name is Suki.

Suki’s favorite spot in the house is by the window. She’ll spend hours there, basking in the sunlight, watching birds fly by, and occasionally making chirping noises.
Did you know that from a spiritual point of view, tortoiseshell cats represent harmony? Their whole spiritual meaning is described on chi-nese.com. But in short, I can tell you that it’s because of their unique blend of black and orange fur. Like yin and yang.
I couldn’t agree more. For instance, whenever there’s a disagreement or tension in the house, Suki somehow manages to diffuse it. She always jumps onto the table and rubs against us as if to say, “Hey, calm down, guys.” Her presence brings peace and harmony to the room.

Sounds like your Suki-brand built in alarm system is working quite well! Functional AND pretty to look at!

Suki is gorgeous!

I totally agree with this although my Ella is a Torbie(vet disagrees and says she’s a Torbico), not a Tortoiseshell.

When my son and I get into a heated debate she jumps between us yowling loudly. Ella does not like raised vices. She also doesn’t like it when the other cats get near us, she jumps between us and the other cats and hisses. Except for Ralph, Ella adores Ralph and Ralph thinks Ella walks on water.

Another funny thing she does is hiss when she isn’t getting the attention she’s asking for. When she approaches me for attention and I’m busy I either step over or around her. She then darts in front of my feet and hisses very loudly.
