I just had a chance to watch this. That is HILARIOUS.
SWatson - I spent years in competitive fencing before switching to riding. I would argue that fencers are even worse. Just think about the nature of the sport: the goal is to set someone up to make a mistake so that you can take advantage of it
That being said, there are more horses’ asses in the world than there are horses, and a lot of them own horses.

1.) That’s hilarious.
2.) I think that about sums up a lot in this thread about EDH, imo.
Hilarious! Perfect reminds me!

Oh, I know there are nuts in every sport/hobby, but I still contend our sport is a bit “extra”.
Thankfully, I met many incredible folks (many here on COTH!) who guided me to some very incredible barns and trainers. I am so grateful for the positive and HEALTHY barns and trainers I got to know since writing that, what? 17 (!!) years ago!!! Goodness gracious! I think I need a walker now!
Also, “cray cray” in a sport like fencing, you aren’t going to end up with the crazy being taken out on innocent animals. You don’t have to call the vet for a sick saber or a foundering foil.
A “sick Saber or foundering foil” ???
Too funny
No, just the armorer
But you’re right about the animals. Except in modern pentathlon. I always found it interesting that all the modern pentathlete I knew from fencing said that the riding portion was their least favorite.[/INDENT]
Who was it that let the Pentatheletes use her horses for the Olympic trials that posts (or posted here) several years ago and told some horrid nightmares?

JER and I both had horses at the 2015 Toronto Pan Am Games in the Modern Pentathlon.
My horses rider won Gold and I think JERS might have won in the womens.
It was an awesome experience. Some of the riders were not that great, but the horses had a good time:lol::lol:
Who was it that was so angry about how bad the horses were ridden? It was a pretty intense thread. Maybe it was someone in the lower 48?
Getting off the topic here sidetracks from the real issue.
Oh dear, I’m sorry. Were we not done sufficiently outing the trainer’s reportedly poor horsemanship skills? Or discussing the myriad of control issues that trainers/BO’s/BM’s have/exert over their boarders/students sometimes, even on social media?
Not trying to be completely hard-hearted, but at this point, where can the conversation go?
Chocolate? Numping? Colin?
If new information pertinent to the discussion should present itself, I’m sure we will jump on it like cats on tuna, but until then…what should we be discussing?

You could probably start a new thread on any of those items.
That’s tactful. Less the mockery. There used to be the persona thread killer extraordinaire.
At this point, wasn’t the thread dying a slow and painful death already??
Sorry for the mockery - it was uncalled for. I was being a jerk.

A lot of people go on about the bad riding. Yes, it can be a bit worrisome. Some of the riders can barely get around, that’s why a good horse who doesn’t quit is so important for that sport. I think a lot of the horses chosen at these things are just the wrong horse for the job.
I was lucky, both the men who rode my mare were decent, the Gold medalist was especially good compared to the others.
I see she got the Rebecca Farm Travel Grant. Interesting.
