How did the surgery go? How are YOU?

It was an almost 4 hour surgery. Surgeon said it was a bit intense as he had to remove the inflamed part of the ureter and stretch it. He put a stent in while it heals. There was an abscess pocket near the inflamed ureter so that’s probably dating back to the original infection.
The CT scans just can’t tell with certainty and you have to go in there to see it to know for sure.

He said the nephrostomy tube can come out before he leaves so that’s good. He will have Foley catheter in for a while (through urethra) and they will work with infectious disease for an antibiotic protocol.

I haven’t seen him yet and have been waiting in his room all day. Hopefully he shows up soon!!

That all sounds positive. You need to make sure to look out for yourself also. You can’t take care of him if you go down too

Thanks for the reminder, Annie. I am bundling up the horses tomorrow, visiting hubby at the hospital and have therapy at 3.
Maybe a glass of wine with my friend in town afterwards.

Hubby was drowsy but once again, was cracking jokes and making smart comments. So hilarious! We watched the end of the Sugar Bowl together.

How are you and your husband doing?

He’s still in patient as of now- they need to remove the nephrostomy tube today and he should either be discharged today or tomorrow. I want his antibiotic protocol for discharge confirmed though. I have missed rounds because they come so early.
My husband is on top of the questions we have.
All in all he is doing well! Thank you
