Naming Thread: Buckles, Boots, and Spurs

Fun thread! Looking for call names relevant to Buckles, Boots, and Spurs.

Is it possible to find something country and elegant? Male dog, playful, confident, busy, pretty, and elegant. Cannot rhyme with “beau” or “eep” sounds.

Buckle (which would become Buck, which sounds like… :zipper_mouth_face:)
Rodeo
Twitch
Spur
Colt

Do your best, COTH! :orange_heart:

Ok so I don’t know anything about western boots, but Lucchese comes up in a search. Shorten to Luke?

Roper
Leather

Hmm… this is a tough one.

Can you tell us the registered name? Maybe there is another way - e.g. a specific cowboy or rider’s name? Saddle brand?

I love naming threads. I know of a dog whose registered name was “…Your Wildest Dreams” and his call name was Brad (Pitt). Everyone knew his name because it was so fun.

My youngest dog’s name is “Hellbent For Leather” - call name “Reckless”. He’s a total a$$ hat. I describe him as a cannon blast to the face every day. I should have known better.

Hondo is a good call name. Easy to yell, as evidenced by the guy who runs NSTRA with a dog named Hondo and he screams his name for the entire 30 minute run

Buckles, Boots, and Spurs is the registered name. I love your two examples! The call names are relevant in a clever, slightly subtle way.

Fabrics? I’ve known pets named Tweed (black lab) and Twill (cat) - Harris, Jute, Cotton and Duck would continue that theme.

Colors of leather: Havana, Warwick, Cordovan, London.

Vamp (part of a boot)

Not the right piece of tack, but what about Little Bit, Bitsy, Bits, etc? Prince, for Prince of Wales spurs? Herm (Sprenger)?

I don’t have a naming recommendation, though I do like the suggestion for Roper.

I came here to recommend against the name Lasso. Years ago we had neighbours at the cottage who had a poodle named Lasso. Turns out when people are yelling “Lasso” at the top of their lungs it starts to sound like “A**hole”.

Strap
Justin (as in the boot company)
I love Chap that zuzu suggested
and Roper from S1969
Bolo like the necktie (may be too close to Beau)
Steel

Too bad boots sounds too much like Beau.

Border Collies tend to like one syllable names right?

Oh so fun! I didn’t make that connection.

Makes me want to get a puppy just to name it. (Then I remember my current “puppy” who just turned 3.) Not ready.
