The little kitten didn’t make it.

Taffy is at the vet now - still very ataxic, but doing okay, all things considered. She’ll get steroids, Veraflox, and subQ fluids this morning. Jingles for her appreciated. She is such a sweet little girl, who was just starting to come around to the idea of being a tame kitty.

So very sorry about the kittens. Thank you for caring and for taking action to help all these kitties in need. May Taffy recover completely and the trapping go well for the momma and two kittens.

So sorry about the little kitten. I hope Taffy feels better soon. I hope today starts a better week for you.

So sad about the kittens, but I hope it turns out better for Taffy.

Cats so often break our hearts.

You went Above & Beyond for those kittens :hushed:
I hope you can trap the other 2, but if you can’t, know the Try counts.

Just off the phone with the vet - Taffy has had both rounds of subQs, and all the meds are on board.

This morning, the vet noted she had nystagmus (I think he said horizontal, but not vertical), and the tech said that has eased up in the last few hours. So I will take her home and try to make her comfortable - I’ll have to figure out a place for a crate, and I’ve no idea about litter - suppose a puppy pee pad would work until she can walk?

Is the mom still around?

Good for you, hope you can catch the kitties.

I’m so sorry for all you’re going through. The neighbor just left this pregnant mama cat outside without food? Do you think they’ll help with the vet bills? Do you think they will be upset?

Um - no, no help with the vet bills.

The neighbors go on vacation for about 4-6 weeks every year about this time. I think they put out food for their barn cats while they’re at home, but either they don’t have anyone checking on the cats, or the person they have isn’t doing it, because every year, I end up with kitties begging for food.

I doubt they even know the one litter exists. I haven’t seen the other 2 since Saturday night - I very much hope she took them back home and told them to stay there! Mum is still coming to eat, however, and need to be taken to the vet ASAP before she gets pregnant again.

Not the first kitties I’ve inherited from them - my big feral tom Simon is from there, and so is Hammie. Simon is a sweetheart, but is one of those cats who is very determined to live his life on his terms, so he comes and goes (he is neutered, yes!). Then there’s Tasha, who got spayed this summer, and her brother Trouble, who I lost this summer.

Taffy and Tuffy are about the same age as Tasha - about 6 months.

I have no idea how many cats are over there.

But, an update on Taffy - they sedated her so they could do a full physical and give her her shots and subQ’s with as little trauma as possible, so she was able to sleep most of the day. She seems much more active and alert now, and the vet said the nystagmus seems a little better. She ate about 1.5 - 2oz. of food when we got home, too. Still not able to walk, but she’s trying.

So now we wait and see if she gets better. Right now she’s in a crate in the laundry room, chilling. I’ve got a feeling she may be House Cat #8. Sigh.

You are a good person. I hope the expense of these kitties isn’t overwhelming. It’s very unfair that your neighbor is so irresponsible and you end up saving their kitties.

I’m glad shes feeling better and you are a saint for doing this.

Aren’t there any rescues in the area that would take her or list her on their sites and maybe help with bills?

Well, in terms of the bills - I don’t want to say it’s not that expensive, but my vet tries really hard to give me breaks on things - today, for example, although I asked for an appointment just so I could be there to help them handle Taffy and be there for her, he didn’t charge me the office call. The neutering & spaying is just the price I need to pay in order not to have more kittens.

But no, our rescues in this area are full and turning away both cats and dogs.
