New Article on Cesar Parra Controversy

The one male groom, Sven, and his husband Adam, was I beleive involved in releasng the recent videos.
It’s unclear to me the actons the 20+ year groom JenM took to reveal or report this horrific abuse,

Sven and Adam have police protection now and I don’t think that’s overkill.

I actually thought that the grooms seemed really distressed and were running to do something for the poor horse.

We had a horse get cast last week. He was cast for a short time. We got him uncast very quickly. I was surprised how much he was overheating in the very short time he was stuck and in distress. We pulled his blanket off and the steam was just pouring off him. When I watched the video of William, that is what came to mind.

But something started to move I just saw a new video not sure who was involved….
which kind of shows the tough way to teach a horse the passage :pensive:… not really sure why I invested all this time until my horse did the passage… this system is a big shortcut for sure :rage:.
And German magazines report that German riders were involved in those CP videos as well. So even if Operation X wasn’t too successful so far maybe CP got something moving….

Was it the grooms then that released the videos? Good for them.

Don’t remember which link, but somewhere it said a working student accessed his site to post the IG video, and immediately left with her horse, and she has police protection as well.

This is true. If you go to Adam’s FB page and read the comments, she explains it.

I was reading through the posts from 2014 and this struck me, I know it’s a lurking poster, but what struck me as it reflected many people’s beliefs at the time, that this was a one off tragic accident. Videos posted this week show this is clearly not true, and it’s a tragedy that it took 9 years for that to come forward.

Sven was employed as a rider by Parra.

DownYonder, you spend/spent an awful lot of time a few years ago on this thread defending him. Why? Even this post seems to be making excuses.

Are you talking about the black horse? This is Germany, Sandbrink is the one with the whip and the female at the door with longer light/white hair ist Dr. Klieber, a judge. Disgusting!

I agree 200% with what you are saying BUT….

Many many horse owner have no idea what it means to get into the sport around horses…

For example they watch a nice round of a hunter and watch a dressagetest and they know
“ That’s what I want!!”
Even if they were involved with horses a bit they don’t really know what it takes to take a horse to the upper level sport…. It takes years, a lot of patience heartbreaking situations and a horse staying sound and willing. And not every horse will make it.

Trainer know their clients… they try to get the job done as fast and as efficient for them and their client… if the trainer has an efficient system the client will hardly recognize what he is doing and let’s hope the horse likes it too… if the trainer has flaws in this system everything will go downhill…. And this happens a lot. Then the horse will be sold and hopefully the trainer will make some money by helping his client to find a better suited horse. And then the game starts over again…
That’s how the horse industry works.

Unfortunately most non professionals do not have enough experience to get it done… they will usually run in all kinds of trouble and will need a professional to help them… professionals know this…
The problem is there is so much money involved and there are so many AAs willing to spend it… that’s why everything keeps moving the way it does.
It will stop if people decide that Horsesport is too difficult and tricky to get involved to…… but then… horses are so beautiful (sarcasm smiley)

No I saw a video with a rider on a horse with a rubber between the legs, somebody holding it on a lunge and another person hitting it with a long whip in order to get him to passage :rage:
and one person (maybe the one filming) says “amazing”.
It seems to be in the US but I don’t know anybody in the video. Maybe it was CP hitting the horse…

But after seeing this I will never again being able to watch the Passage in these international competitions :rage:. I guess the higher they throw up their legs the bigger the probability they were trained like this…
It’s the total shortcut and has nothing to do with the way you are supposed to train your horse…

Well sounds good but…. Might not be in the best interest of the horse either……
A horse functions in a very simple but not changeable way. If it has an owner who is trying to figure out things on their own either the owner or the horse can get hurt very bad…

Mares suffer a lot from this. You will not believe how many people have no idea how a mare is supposed to function… in the wilderness they produce foals, but they are also substantial for the survival of the herd… they need to be extremely tough and strong minded in order to defend their babies… they do not know how to forgive mistakes….
If the owner doesn’t know this and makes mistakes usually the mares suffer. First they get
Hormones injected, then their ovaries are removed and some are even put to sleep because they are so dangerous :rage:.

So no, I would not recommend for people to learn with their horses
:pensive:

What I would recommend is to use the trainer closes to you. You hire him to train your horse and you tell him that in General you have no trust at all in any Professional. And that you are very very hesitant to use any professional to train your horse. And then you specify exactly what you want him to do… then you watch every single ride he does. You watch closely and evaluate. If you have the feeling something is going wrong talk to the trainer about it and discuss your options

Care to back these statements up with some certifiable facts?

And there is definitely a place for just these professionals. Students have to start somewhere.

I guess that makes sense. Yet it’s hard to tell if poor William was sweating or unconscious. I thought CP figured he’d resuscitate the horse by pouring water on him (?). Either way, it is horrifying, to say the least.

It’s something I’ll never forget viewing, that’s for sure.
