Just a thought. I heard first hand from a trainer who sold an FEI horse to an " owner" to be ridden by a professional sponsored by the “owner”. The trainer bragged about receiving a suitcase full of cash after the sale ($100K+) from the professional as a kickback for the sale., unbeknownst by the “owner” Turns out the professional was ultimately not able to ride the horse safely nor consistently at the FEI level so the horse was sold on, price unknown. Just curious.
I read on Facebook one of his long time clients, who actually took out a full page ad in his support has left his barn. His facebook page talked of his disappointment in having to have his horses “rest” during the past show season. He is now with another trainer. Seems as if several horses in his barn are resting, injured, shipped off to Germany, dead or have permanent brain injuries as in the case of Trudy Miranda horse. Does anyone have a copy of the video? I think Cothers should have a right to decide for themselves. Lets face it, the jury is going to see it. I can’t imagine watching the suffering of an animal would serve him well in court!
Update: Was just searching Facebook to get the guote from his client and this popped up. So creative!!!

Trudy Miranda has permanent brain injuries ?
Lets blame the victim. Can you imagine how much money it has cost the victim to pursue a court case. In my opinion, he should of settled this matter when it happened. He supposedly has a barn full of the “best horses in the world” according to all his press releases. Should of given her a horse and moved on. I think this guy belives his own lies.

I believe she meant Trudy’s horse does.
Why do people still train with Parra? He seems to have such a bad reputation. After what happened with William, why would anyone want to send a horse there?
There are plenty of good dressage trainers in NJ. Why haven’t more clients left him?

P.T. Barnum said it best. (“There’ a sucker born every minute.”)
It seems that despite the lawsuits nothing seems to stick with these types. And when they settle out of court (even in the recent horse sale fraud case where the Plaintiff refused to go with a confidentiality agreement) they are not actually considered “convicted” so they continue to get grants, enjoy their status on the USEF High Performance rankings, etc. There is no deterrent to run their businesses differently, that is why there are so many dirty horse people out there. And look at all ones where no one took a stand and filed a case or a complaint or whatever…the way of the horse world.
Not a fan of CS but ponypappy’s obsession with him is disturbing. [edit]
Let the courts handle it
It doesn’t surprise that his current clients continue to use him. I stopped using a trainer after lots of really horrible things happened and the care level dropped significantly (ie horses stopped having shavings put in their stalls at all). Luckily I didn’t own a horse at the time but I refused to give her another dime of my money. She still has many of the same clients, some of which board there and kiss the ground she walks on. Reality is staring them right in the face but they continue on in a permanent state of denial.
While I agree that the owner is not totally innocent if she did indeed ride her horse cranked in like that (though I’ve never personally seen any evidence of it), Parra is a professional. I know that if I were to bring a horse to my current trainer and told her to ride/lounge it this way, nose cranked to the chest, she not only would refuse to do it, she would likely refuse to work with me if I continued to ride the horse that way. Parra is a professional and he should know better.
There’s no way to know for sure if the neurological symptoms were present before the accident or not, though I’m sure video evidence or vet records could be brought into the case by subpoena. But that accident looked like it was capable of causing neurological damage. It’s unfortunate the video is no longer public. The horse looked like he was going into shock to my eyes.

I thought the Facebook page was pretty funny. It also gives some snapshots of the frame the horse was forced into.

Anyone who thinks photos of a horse in that condition are “pretty funny” in any context, is sick.JMO

I completely agree with you.
I’ve been working for Cesar since 2002 and the reason I am still working for him is because of his passion, the desire for his students to succeed in the show ring and in life, the family atmosphere, the support of the team, and having fun while doing what we do together.

I work in two beautiful barns and have the opportunity to travel the world grooming his horses at events I never dreamed of ever visiting in my life. This could not of been possible without the support of the team. And in team it’s not only Cesar, but his family, the guys that clean the stall, the vet, the clients, the sponsors, the farrier, the working students, the riders from all over the world, the saddle fitter, I can go on. We all work for a common goal, love the horses, support each other no matter what their goals are,and have fun while doing it.

To be fair, no one is holding a gun to someones head and forcing them to work for or train with CP
And no, no relation and I am not a supporter

I don’t think that anyone said that people are being forced to work with or train for CP?
My comment went to the fact that Happyone321 joined COTH apparently for the sole purpose of promoting CP and rebutting the posts here. And we can all take that for what it is worth.
You, carolprudm, obviously did not do that.

Well to be fair, so what? Is ponypappy any more credible than the happy one? I’d like to see the courts deal with it rather than people like ponypappy, happy one or any other anonymous poster. But I can understand why someone might want to join a board to counter allegations agst someone they admire. And let’s admit this- whether deserved or not, CS still has some clients and followers. They likely aren’t any more objective than the Pappyman so maybe it balances out.
