New Article on Cesar Parra Controversy

I hope this dirtbag gets what’s coming to him for this. What happened to this horse is horrible. At least he won’t be competing for the US at the WEG. How about going back to Columbia and taking up dentistry again…

laugh a little along with the rest of us and don’t take it so seriously. That’s a problem on these boards. People go to make a joke and people then go off on them. lol.[/QUOTE]

Ok. I can do that.

My goodness the scams I have heard of and seen at very close contact over the years. Un-rideable horses sold at high cost, $100,000 cash kickbacks under the table on horse sales, flowers to judges, etc. pretty funny!

…a horse, unlike a human, cannot voice their need to discontinue an activity lest they suffer an injury.

Kudos to the judge for pointing this out. It is sickening, though, that it needed to be pointed out to a supposed horseman.

Parra should have shelled out for a better lawyer! Some lame testament …I am an expert because I have watched a lot of court inspired tv shows

I agree that the judge used a great common sense approach that can easily become applicable in future cases. Cheers and finally the owner can take a small breath as she has gained some ground. It seems like the odds have been against her since the beginning.

What was the Harmony Farms case?

A new entry for the Dictionary of Life … Look up scumbag and get Cesar Parra!

Siegi, I’ve long admired you on the breeding forum, but I do believe this is my favorite quote.

Having witnessed Parra in the back barns first hand, I hope he gets everything he has coming to him. Legal & otherwise.

Thanks, Dressagelvr… I, too, have witnessed Senor Para in the warm up ring, and believe me, only the fact that this is a public forum is keeping me from using stronger language when describing him.

“Third Time is Not A Charm” for Cesar Parra

They should revoke his US citizenship! [edit] And this week he’s competing at Lamplight and owns another entry… Definitely not rooting for him!

Good God! I just took a look at the pictures of what he did to that horse. This is worse than disgusting and he should be banned indefinitely.

I took one look at that photo and got sick and was on the verge of tears.

I hope justice is served in this case.

I am not a fan of Parra. However, I hope in this case he has a copy of the video of the owner of the horse riding the horse in tighter side reins than the position he had the horse on when it flipped and hit the wall.

This was a horrific thing to happen to this poor horse. Absolutely horrible. He shouldn’t have been longed cranked in as he was (the video was posted on these forums and many of us saw it). However, he had been more cranked in by his owner and so far there has been a major smear campaign against Parra over it with misleading information such that I question any validity of the claims and whether the horse already had a neurological problem or not.

With all the rumors around Parra, I believe at least some are likely to be true; I really want to see legitimate claims from folks who haven’t destroyed their own credibility if he is truly guilty of those things. Even with my general distaste for the man, I don’t like witch hunts.

I have no knowledge of this particular situation other than what I have read on COTH. However, I have seen Parra do some very questionable things first hand standing ring side in Wellington. So my opinion of him was formed long ago based on things I saw myself.

^ This
at one point there was various video footage of the owner with the horse cranked in, owner stated that horse was experienced on the lunge & with side reins so trainer’s plans for the day were fine, horse was experienced with shipping out to lessons etc so no need for horse to arrive in advance & settle (later this is all retracted or disappeared from public view), the horse freaked & hit a wall, trainer & assistants did not beat the horse, rendered 1st aid as well as they could, called the vet immediately, etc, etc …

Yes, what happened was tragic, in hindsight, it’s easy to lay blame.

Like netg, I’m not a fan of this trainer, I’d never place a sensitive horse with him, trainer was/is fairly open with his methods: owner made the choice to pursue the training etc.

(I suspect owner selected trainer for specific reasons … just read on this forum (for example), how frequently a CTJ meeting is recommended for a horse behaviour and the poster guarantees the horse will never do that again … and how many posters find this acceptable …)

Pffff. Women love foreign male trainers. It’s a thing.

Like I said a long time ago, there’s a reason
he got number 666 at Gladstone not too long
ago.

Has he made any offers to improve upon the $10,000 minimum he would owe the owner?I would think that he has spent upwards of $15k plus, perhaps a lot more. Is the owner after blood and death or would cash due as well?

When rail watching, I often think of terrible things that a poor handed trainer could suffer as a revenge for their crimes towards the animals. Career ending lawsuits rarely come to mind.
