Termite damage?
Maybe. I would figure they’d keep going though, this was just at ground contact plus where the water seeps up the 2x10 they put on the bottom.
Made brackets for a stray shelf we had in the house. Will hold buckets and feed pans in the feed area.
Got the intermediate posts in for the stall fronts. That was very unpleasant in 95 degree heat.
One stall front is in. The metal sheaths on the posts are indeed posing a challenge. I refuse to turn them into Swiss cheese though, so I’ll have to come up with a way to cover them with a 1x or something. Won’t look as nice as if I could have gone all the way across but it’s what I got.
Also - figured out that the guitar hangers that I use for bulkier tools will also hang a fire extinguisher. The latter is a much more valiant cause.
Fabulous. Covering the metal wraps- If you put a vertical board across the whole post/seam form the top of the headers to the ground, it’ll look nicely cohesive.
I could try that. It would make a good stop for the doors, too.
Thank you! I’ve taken a few days off due to my hands being trashed + job interviews, but should be back at it tonight, at least for a bit.
Good luck with the interviews!
Thank you! I have an offer in hand but one job came up last minute that I think is a better fit so we are rushing along the process to hopefully be “the one”!
Good luck!!! I’m contemplating new jobs too
I think this job might be a little torqued that I want my start date to be mid August (to try and get the horses home and kind of settled before I start), so I might need to give a little leeway there. It will be worth it.
I guess I should say - obviously my target of July 1 is out of the question. New target - August 1.
You can always find work as a farm hand or in construction if neither potential job pans out.
As long as they don’t mind that I can’t build totally level to save my damned life.
In all seriousness - I will accept a job offer tomorrow, and turn in my resignation. I told the new job a mid August start, to let me finish this crap so I can fully focus on the job. Let the games begin!
Finished the last stall. Made a muck bucket cubby for the grooming stall. Made Shayney’s “sitting board”. Started putting in mats.
Awesome progress!
So close!
Oh I wish! Still have to cut in the dutch doors and finish the fencing and hang the stall doors
