But think where you started. You are superwoman!
That new job is going to look like fun after being the one man/woman barn building and fencing crew. Get to sit down! Air conditioning! No lifting! No hammering fingers or carpal tunnel syndrome from stretching wire!
Unfortunately it’s operations manager at a mill lol.
All the things! But now in very hot dusty buildings! but I got a 20% raise with the move so that’s nice
I just spent 3 hours putting the first coat of spar urethane on the raw wood
Recommended number of coats is 3. 🫠
You can’t even tell anything is on there because it’s clear satin.
Does it look exactly the same? Yes. Is it 9 hours of work? Also, yes.
For anyone doing this - a little goes a long way. 3 coats was about 3/4 of a gallon, and that’s two full t&g walls, the wall with the built in, the big header, and the entire stall fronts.
Wow!!
It seems barn builder used standard indoor oil based polyurethane on my walls. Where there was sun exposure it eventually cracked and started to mildew. So the past three days I have been sanding the outer wall back to bare T&G pine. So I can definitely appreciate your work. Just 120 grit to go and some finish sanding in corners inaccessible to the 6 inch sander and then it will time for my first coat of semi-gloss oil SPAR URETHANE. I hope it will eventually turm amber to be a decent match to the upper boards that still look OK. I am not getting on a ladder to sand any higher.
I picked water based because I didn’t want it to patina to that honey color - we’ve got enough of that in the house
Also, your barn is gorgeous!
Lots of stuff today. Some mission critical, others not. My husband is not feeling well so I couldn’t do the stall doors.
Ran a line of conveyor belting along the barn.
Cut the hay feeder down a notch, and put it in place with the blocks in it to clip the net to.
Hung the fans.
Installed the cameras.
Installed bridle and saddle racks - leather in the tack room, YES.
Hung the hooks for tools in the hay area.
Got the “get ready” saddle and bridle rack up.
Sometimes working alone sucks. Today was one of those days. 2 hours later, and one track is vaguely installed.
Speaking of working alone sucks, these were really un-fun to get up alone. But, it’s done. I may have broken my foot though - hopefully my denial will just make the pain go away.
I get tired of waiting on my husband to help with stuff so, where there’s a will there’s a way!
Well done! Hope your foot is just bruised and the pain goes away quickly.
I hope so too. Taking weight off it makes it throb so I’ll just keep cruising along and hope I can keep the swelling out of it with movement. I dropped one of those monster doors right across the top of it - thank goodness from only 6" or so but those things have to weigh 100# or better, and the edge got me.
I had a feeling that’s what happened. If it makes you feel better, my feet are throbbing at the thought.
Take Arnica, it does help.
Editing to add space so this post can be seen in case it’s a wider problem than just a device or two

Anyone else getting this sort of nonsense? @Moderator_1 I think maybe the tech folks need to be alerted that some ads are not behaving properly. I’m currently on a Pixel 8 pro.
Do not weigh the door. It will make your foot feel worse. They are more than 100lbs for sure
I vote get it checked out asap. In the meantime smear it good with arnica. Drive somewhere to go get some if necessary. The absolute sooner you get it on, the better the results.
There’s a discussion about this in Technical help
To go with @jvanrens lovely link, it will show that Mod1 has reached out to the developers, more than once, on our behalf. So hopefully a fix is in the works.
