They don’t even know what to do with themselves they are so full of beans!

I would take a kitten like Luke in a second - he knows how to keep himself occupied and is probably pretty smart. They need to take a little sibling to let him take out some that energy on.

Oh! Oh! I know!

Lunge him for like 30 minutes then give him a bath to get the sweat off. He’ll be nice a quiet for his prospective home Isn’t that what us horse people do? :joy:

Those videos are insane and adorable. You have to watch them several times because there’s so much going on. The mama cats should be glad they don’t have to deal with that!

I’m sad that it’s time for them to go to new homes, but you have done an amazing job and taken great care of them and found them good homes. Their fate is so much better than it would have been with the previous farm owner.

Thank you. :grinning:

It’s been fun, but I have a new found respect for rescues.

Lots of kitten appointments today and tomorrow. We’ll see how many are left by Saturday night. :sunglasses:

Just so I can keep my timelines straight: it sounds like they are in “ready to go” mode. As in potential homes could take them home the day of appointment? (Sounds easier than following up “hey, kitten is ready now”)

Thank you so much for sharing these. They made me laugh and cry at the same time. I have loved this Summer of the Kittens.

Oh my, did I need those videos this morning! May this thread live forever just for the cuteness value!

Yeah, they aren’t quite eight weeks, but if the new owners have vet appointments and can feed them three times per day, I’m letting them go at 6 1/2 or 7 weeks. They were weaned at 5/6 weeks and this is a bonding window for the new owners. Some of the littlest ones aren’t going until next week. The decision is based on their life skills (all are using litter boxes and eating well), the home environment of the new owners, and the fact that they will get more attention in their new homes. I’m going with the spirit of the law.

I showed the video of the happy playing kittens to a co-worker that had just gotten off a very depressing call and they made her feel a little bit better. You can’t be sad and look at little playing kittens.

Luke and Lewis left yesterday! Great owners. Luke actually calmed down enough to fall asleep on her lap. They were smitten with each other.

Lewis got a name change to Leo. Actually perfect for him. Awesome new home in the big city.

So, we’re down to eleven in the kindle. Four going home today, maybe more. Han leaves Friday. Zoe leaves in a few days. We’ll get down to single digits by the end of the day! We might turn the rest loose in the room. They are doing really well.

I’m going to post more videos and such of the remaining kindle Sunday.

The hardest to place are my plain brown tabbies, which I kind of expected.

I did contact a local rescue which doesn’t have a facility so everything is out for fostering. I suspect after this weekend, the great homes will dry up. That’s when you need to be more careful. You’re tired and eager to move on. The homes might not be ideal after the initial enthusiasm wears off.

I have asked the rescue if I can turn over the placement to them (they collect the fees and arrange the spay/neuter) but the kindle can stay here under our care. 14 was way too many to ask for help, but five is manageable. Whoever is left by tonight will get adopted through the rescue. They can use Petfinder.

@shiloh I sent the whole thread link to a friend who just lost her sister and my niece who is in the hospital for some cuteness therapy.

I hope the rescue says yes. That would be very helpful!

Congratulations on the new homes.

Alice, Leia, Albert, and Chloe went home today. Alfred and Zoe are going with the same person on Thursday. Han is going home Friday. Four kittens left. My plain brown tabbies and one brown field tabby. The rescue said they would take them. I have to fill out their forms this weekend, but they stay with us until adopted. So, that’s 7 kittens here for six more days. 4 kittens still in need of homes.

I made this video this morning when I still had 6 in need of homes. You can see Alice and Alfred in these, as well as the 4 still waiting for owners.

My husband watched one of the previous videos and liked the kitten who sat in the basket and watched all the other kittens run around.
