RG isn’t a ration balancer anyway, so keeping that would be your fat source, and if that’s all you’re feeding, you still need a ration balancer, even without this product
I found this at Buchheit a couple weeks ago, and just opened my bag to start trying this week. First day I mixed a small amount with my mare’s normal beet pulp, and it was a dud. Could have been that I also moved turnout groups the same day, and she’s such a sensitive Sally that she may not have eaten even her normal food with the stress of moving. I switched back to just beet pulp for a few days and am giving the Unbeetable another try again tonight. I am soaking just because I have powdered supps that I mix in, and said picky mare would not eat those without some wetness in her food. Will report back on if she decides to eat it tonight!
I know it’s not. I was curious if I could discontinue it if I switch to Unbeetable.
It’s confusing the way it’s worded - “I would need to add a ration balancer so would I discontinue Renew Gold” to me reads like you felt RG wouldn’t be needed if adding a balancer. They’re entirely different products, so adding one doesn’t mean you have to remove the other. There’s not enough flax oil in this product to take the place of RG, it’s only 4% fat
So, I think it’s their website with the shipping. Yesterday on the phone, the guy got it to remove the shipping at the store kiosk. I could not here at home. Just stopped in, he tried it again, and it didn’t remove the shipping either to the store or to my home. We tried 3 times, then it suddenly removed the shipping (like the two screenshots).
My advice is to keep on trying LOL!
I just ordered two bags and the delivery fee was added then discounted. Shipped to home.
Hopefully they arrive intact!
I messaged Unbeetable Feeds via fb and they were very responsive, for anyone with questions.
The pellets are very dense - a 1 qt scoop is roughly 2.5 lbs. For comparison, the beet pulp my barn feeds a 1 qt scoop is .63 lbs and a 1 qt scoop of alfalfa pellets is 1.25 lbs.
Wow, I didn’t expect that at all! My small (but not FF small) alf pellets are about 1.3lb/qt, similar to yours. I’ve never used beep pellets so don’t know their typical density. So you actually weighed or that’s what they said? It’s not very high fat, and even the most dense regular fortified feeds aren’t even 2lb/qt
That is what they told me, and I also was really surprised by that! I am wondering if its because of how small the pellets are - less air in the scoop/more tightly packed.
I know the ration balancer I use has smaller pellets and is pretty dense, and 1 qt weighs more (although definitely not close to 2lb, let alone 2.5lb). The beet pulp we use is shredded, so a bad comparison weight wise. If someone else gets it and weighs it, I’d be interested to know if they can confirm that weight because I did wonder if that was an error of some sort when I first saw the message.
Visit to TSC to order was a fail. Added to the cart, Shipping $129.99 to store, but the system only applied a $50 discount. SO. Guess I’m waiting for a bit.
That is just so weird. I am sorry that is not working and you went thru all that trouble and it did not work.
Zlotych where are you located? Wonder if it’s regional. I am in west Michigan and mine as only $9.99 shipping that they removed.
Are you in the west? I’m in New England, and TSC carries this brand’s beet pulp in store. Either it’s local or they have distribution worked out here.
If you’re a ways away from where they’re already distributing, that could sure explain the cost.
East Coast.
@Zlotych, just curious, have you tried any other Tractor Supply stores that are near you to see if the online ordering works if you pick those stores?
Maybe it is a software glitch with that one store?
It might be worth sending Tractor Supply an email asking why this is so weird.
Ah, duh yes, that can definitely increase density! I forgot about the size of these pellets
Its the quantity I was putting in! If I try to buy more than 3 bags it charges shipping.
Well that is just crazy.
So order multiple orders of three bags.
I just looked up the Unbeetable main location in case they are drop-shipping. They are in CA so it does not make sense mine would be $9.95 for 50 lbs. So I then looked up TSC distribution centers in case that was the problem, but they are all over the US. I am at a loss why the huge price difference in shipping. And do order individually - I do that a lot on Amazon when there are price/shipping differences.
