New Format in Forum

Hey @Moderator_1 any feedback on the pages that won’t load/refresh?

@Jarpur and @Night_Flight have you seen any change?

I’ve repeated cleared cookies & cache, and restarted the phone. It’s a device level issue and doesn’t occur on my computer, but it also doesn’t look like an easy fix on my end.

I haven’t heard anything about that issue specifically, but they are definitely working down the list of problems I sent. There is also a punch list from the main site, which was the focus of this update, so I can imagine they have their hands full!

Thanks!

For anyone dealing with this issue, if you copy/paste the link to the page that won’t load (or loads a non current list) enough times, the browser eventually offers it as a quick link. So now I can just click the address bar at the top, and this circle, rather than try to navigate a different way or continually copy/pasting.

I just tested it and the compose box is now clear for me, too! Thanks, @Moderator_1!

Had a couple incidences of the rotating circle as a page didn’t load yesterday, but not theTry Again message as pages failed to load.

My workaround for the Latest list not updating correctly has been to refresh the page after clicking on Latest (because simply clicking didn’t work). I will pay attention today and see what happens if I don’t do this.

My mistake was definitely clearing cookies, trying to fix how it kept loading that old page. I could do the same thing you describe–just refresh, and it would flip over to current.

After clearing cookies, it just never loads at all :-/

Another thing that happens with the Latest list is that the thread topics don’t turn light, after I’ve read them and returned to Latest. Also, I can often catch up on a thread on which I’ve posted and the little number in a circle won’t disappear when I return to Latest. Therefore, I’ll click on threads that I think have new replies, only they don’t.

And, at the top, where the number of New and Unread is found (to the right of the Latest button), I can read topic(s) and those numbers won’t change (even if there have been no New and Updated topics meanwhile, and my reading should’ve reduced the number).

And, when I get the clickable little box at the top of the Latest list stating number of New and Updated topics, sometimes it disappears on its own and sometimes not, and whether it disappears on its own (perhaps that’s a timed notice?) or I click on it doesn’t always translate to actual new/updated topics appearing.

I’ve been trying to notice the number of existing replies on some topics, and/or the time of last reply, to see if I can detect a pattern, but I think I need a spreadsheet for this, lol. So far, nothing is jumping out at me – it seems random.

Before I cleared my cookies I noticed much of the same, because that first click loads an old page and that old page isn’t updating with new threads or new posts or reflecting what has been read. It’s a static snapshot, rather than the dynamic page it’s supposed to be.

Do you still see all of that non updating behavior once you reload? Or does it reflect all the new stuff once you refresh and get the “real” latest page?

I’d wind up clicking latest (loads old page) hitting refresh (loads current page.) Click into a new thread, read, click back (loads old page) refresh (loads new page.)

It was a pain, so cleared cookies and cache thinking that would help but noooooooo. :frowning:

I have things setup to automatically clear cookies. Have had that for a long time, without these issues. So I don’t think that is the cause for me.

I feel your pain!

That’s really interesting that the old page is persisting for you if you’re automatically clearing cookies! Once I did that, my latest page never loads if I click on a link here, there’s just a perpetually spinning wheel.

Haven’t seen this yet today. It’s happened to me when clicking on a topic. Backing out of said topic and clicking on another topic would load that second choice. Later, I could return to problem topic with no problem.

Ok, just updated Latest. MB thread was first in line, vaccination thread was second. Read MB thread, returned to Latest – vaccination thread disappeared. Refreshed page, vaccination thread is back in second place.

Meanwhile, noticed that numbers of New and Updated didn’t change after I read threads.

Yep–because clicking on latest or clicking back into latest is always going to serve you the old, non updating page. Refreshing will update & show you current.

It’s weird that it’s happening to a couple of us, but not everyone. And for @Night_Flight, it’s the H/J forum that won’t load :-/

I’m on day two of a massive power outage from freezing rain, so I haven’t been navigating the forums recently.

I always keep COTH open in a tab on Chrome, so it wouldn’t surprise me if I had left it on the H/J forum while the update was happening. If we all did something similar then that could be the issue, but it would still be nice to learn how to fix it besides using the link each time!

For some reason, I was logged out the day before yesterday. I couldn’t log in using my password. Today I reset my password and all is well. The maroon bar across the top of “reply” is also gone.

Hi I’m new here and couldn’t figure out where to ask this so I’ll do it here. When I registered I got a text code to register for showgroundslive. What is that and why did I get that message?

Showgroundslive is the exhibitor website for the series of horse shows in Wellington, Florida, among other places.

I don’t know why you would get anything about that website for signing up here, although I believe the Chronicle and those shows are owned by the same company.

So maybe it’s some sort of cross promotion?

Welcome to the BB, anyway!

Tonight, after I logged in, I checked my notifications, then attempted to go to the forums, which instead took me to the endless spinning circle of death.

Nothing worked to get out of that screen, and I finally shut down my browser, opened it back up, and returned to the log-in page of Coth. After logging in again, I’ve been able to read posts.

ETA as requested: newish MacBook Pro, running Ventura, Firefox browser

I have everything except the Horse Care forum…endless circle of death.
