Do we have to pay for the IOS updates of can they be downloaded with no charge?

I have a brand new but dated(2017 still in the box) Samsung Reader that I believe will pretty much do the same as my iPad, I could switch over to it but I love my iPad.

Apple OS updates, whether it be IOS (tablets, phones) or MacOS (desktops, laptops) have always been free.

Your iPad is probably new enough that you’ll be okay for a while. At some point, Apple will stop updating iOS for your particular iPad.

Go to Settings > General > Software Update it should tell you if there is an update you can install.

Please, please, back up your iPad first I always back up my iPhone and my iPad before I install a new version of iOS just to be safe. I’d rather have the backup and not need it over the other way around… wishing I had one

No idea how the tablets work, but on an iphone there is a Settings which leads you to a General setting which leads you to Software Update

JB, the iPads and iPhones both run iOS so their basic interface is the same across the platforms.

Desktops and laptops run MacOS and their interface is basically the same.

Does make it nice, IMO that once one gets the hang of the look-and-feel, that integrating a new device that runs the same OS, not much new to have to learn.

This is really a nonissue but it’s been bugging me so I have to ask.

Why does my post have, say, 3 “likes” but when I go to my profile it only shows the username of one of those posters?

There are a few different notification settings for likes. Hit up your profile (avatar in the upper right, your user name, preferences) then click notifications and change “notified when liked” to “always.”

You can also see all your notifications instead of a condensed list by clicking on the down arrow at the bottom of the list that shows when you click your avatar, but all your likes won’t be there until you change the like notification setting

Mine looks the same. Can you click on different sections of the hamburger? On my phone, I can only click on the whole hamburger.

Mine looks the same. Can you click on different sections of the hamburger? On my phone, I can only click on the whole hamburger.

Nope, it’s just one button. Maybe the mod has special stuff as an admin?

Clicking on the hamburger, a window opens that has a line with “FAQ new” and then what Simkie posted open up in post 468, except my bottom is a bit different.
Clicking on that bottom right “Keyboard shortcuts”, that list Moderator posted shows in post 456.

I am not sure we are all getting exactly the same picture?

Is that what you are missing, that last right tab at the bottom?

When you’re going back to the top, it’ll work better if you click on the thread title, use the thread slider tool, or click on the post timestamp at the top of the slider.

Thanks. It might be handy to have something up in that bar that shows you can click the title to get back to the top of the page, maybe an up arrow or something like that.

I have some RSI in my mouse hand so I avoid using the mouse as much as I can as I have limited accuracy with it. The slider is too much for me, I can’t reliably use it to navigate through the thread but provided page up/down/home keeps working i’ll manage.

I see the green bar ‘at the top’ with the ‘C’ on the left and the search, hamburger, avatar to the right.

But, it wasn’t pinned at the top. If I scrolled down in a topic, the green bar ‘disappeared’ and I’ve have to be a little ‘creative’ (like use the hamburger or avatar drop down to be able to get to the top.

I updated my avatar.

Now, the green bar is at the top-top and appears pinned where, when I scroll down’ I can still see it.

Maybe explains some of what I was getting confused over and maybe others.

I think pinned is the way to go but for me until I edited my avatar, it wasn’t pinned…

On mobile?

When you move the page down (go down in the thread) the thread title/forum title appears.

When you move the page up (go up in the thread) the avatar & hamburger & search icon appears.

There’s not enough real estate for both, so it flips depending on which way you’re moving.

You may have found one of the little glitches for the cyberhelpers there.

Some programs on the platform change are depending on the old settings and some of those may be lost as it changed to the new platform.

I seem to have a full menu where others report missing some tabs.
I did play initially with my avatar pictures, trying different ones and that may have reset the full settings?

A real zebra glitch that would be in programming problems.

Just curious, if you try to change your avatar, then back to your current picture, does that change any in your settings, as Where isMyWhite seems to be reporting, if I understood that right?
