NEW GOV-Weser-Ems Website

Hello,
I wondered if anyone had seen the new GOV/Weser-Ems website. I just started to explore it and am VERY disappointed at what I am finding. For one thing, there is very little mention of Weser-Ems ponies at all. Also, there is nothing for US breeders in the sales section. I had a feeling things would go downhill when Stephanie left, but this is much worse than I expected. It is enough to make me rethink using Weser-Ems.

I would appreciate others feedback. Maybe we could collectivily give feedback and get the website back up to par.

Very disappointing-I could not find any mention of Weser Ems ponies even when using the search box???

I know! Breeding these ponies is already such an unhill battle. If the registry is not even going to provide a website with basic info, sales, etc…I am just hoping this website is a work in progress.

do you mean this website?

http://oldenburghorse.netI think this is the one they are talking about…the one they just redid.

i was so surprised to see that there are no ponies listed! just a couple days ago i was perusing the pony stallions and now poof!

which is too bad.

isn’t there anyway pony folks could get together and create our own website for these ponies?

Looks like they have the ponies up

Is it just me or does anyone else not like the “Flipping Book” ? I just never look through the stallions on that site because it is too time consuming to flip through the “Flipping Book”. I can’t see the whole info on the page when I zoom in and I can’t read it if I don’t.

I do not like the flipping book either. I was on that site the other day trying to find auction prices from the June auction and I could not find them. Are they no longer available?

I think the website is in progress, because the ponies were not up and they are up now, and there is more content too… i would check back in a few days maybe?

Auction prices are on the German site. But not on the English drop down menu version.

Ergebnisse is what you will need to click on to find the prices.

Not Impressed

I dont see much on the site for the American/Candian breeder so far…No sales for us, no nursery for new foals…Lots missing. It makes me rethink how much I want to keep registering with GOV.

I actually liked the “Flipping Book”. It reminded me of looking at a hard copy of a stud book directory and wow, there were some nice horses listed!

Whoever designed this web site was thinking ahead. The Book works really well with the iPad–by touching the screen a list of the stallions’ names is displayed and you can bookmark the ones that you like. Does it have the same features when using a PC?

Will GOV be adding more content in the next few days, I wonder? I’ll definitely be looking at their site again in the future.

Holly has been working to get our concerns addressed, but it would probably help to address your comments to Katrin Burger and/or Herr Kanowski, or even to Dr. Schleppinghoff. They need to hear from folks other than Holly from time to time so they understand the issues that Holly mentions to them are a widespread concern to breeders in North America.

As far as the flipping book goes - I also hate it. They need to also provide a standard PDF version for the breeders that don’t have expensive toys like iPad, etc.

Down Yonder…I understand what you are saying and have no problem doing that. However, when I have done it in the past it has met with no reply. Honestly, I think if they are that disconected with the needs of US breeders it must be from lack of interest. It is very depressing. We had a wonderful website and now we have something that is of minimal value to US breeders. GOV needs to step up the support…not decrease it…esp in this economy. It is very disheartening.

Heather, I agree. And I still think it would help to express your thoughts to the German office EXACTLY as you have expressed them here. And the more folks that do it, the better. If they only hear from a couple of people every once in a while, they think it is a non-issue. I would also follow up if you don’t hear back from them. I usually get replies from Vechta, but there are times when I have to re-send an email. Sometimes emails get lost in cyberspace, sometimes the recipient is out of the office and my email gets buried in their inbox along with the hundreds of other emails they get every day.

Another thing that may help is to copy in several people on your email - Holly, Katrin, Herr Kanowski, Dr. Schleppinghoff, so they are ALL aware of the issue.

Will add that I can understand their “lack of focus” on NA since their primary responsibility is to the German breeders, but I believe it is good to hold their feet to the fire a little bit every so often.

Ah, but they had Stephanie who did such a great job. She understood US breeders.

I also already mentionned back when they had the other site that I found it disturbing that on the NA website, the German auction was so much put forward, while the NA sales were on second position.

That is simply not acceptable.

Do you know who is responsible for the website?

so i am curious: why cant NA GOV breeders create a NA GOV breeders website that is how they want it?
