Wonder how the F-bomb slipped past the Mods.
Seems like we will never find out how the open-top trailer got from FL back to OH, if she got the blue saddle or not…
Oh wait, that was a different trainwreck.

DUUDE ME TOO!!! I need to edit my sig
I really expected the update to be how wonderful the recently gelded, never ridden Arabian horse was with small under the age of 7 children and how we were all so wrong and don’t know anything about horses.
I’ll just have my margarita down here at the bar of the Blue Saddle Inn.
Sarah, if you are indeed a real person, plenty of people have given you very good advice. Your uncle might like you, but he’s taking MAJOR advantage of you dumping his two unrideable horses on your lap. 25yo is nearing the end of a riding career even for an arabian, and not every unbroken 13yo ex stallion makes a suitable riding horse for a mother with two children.
Your uncle sees a sucker who doesn’t understand the amount of trouble they are about to get themselves into.
Your best bet is to have the person you take lessons with on the weekends help you find a suitable horse, perhaps a lesson horse that is for sale? Or a horse to lease?
My boyfriend (who has ridden twice before I met him) had his uncle offer to give him an ex racehorse. They even offered to board it for him while he was in the military for 4 years!!! Thankfully he had a little bit of intelligence because his uncle sure wasn’t looking out for him.
omg pls no.

I can’t believe her uncle would dump these horses on her, especially an untrained 13 yo, hopefully gelded (let’s hope they find both testicles…) stallion! What knowledgeable and caring horse person would would do this to these horses he supposedly loves, or to his niece? Maybe he really doesn’t care too much for either horses or the niece?
Sarah, accidents are waiting to happen (and many will happen) from every angle. Hopefully no human or horse will die or be permanently mamed. Be prepared to spend a lot of money on hospital and vet bills…for you, your kids, and all the other not thinking too clearly people involved.
And Sarah, you came here looking for advice. You’ve got it! You are getting the collaborative voice of reason and experience from a horse community who has done it all and really does not want you to get hurt. THINK about it!

I believe that the 5 yo having assigned homework isn’t the eye-raising part, but that the 5 yo will do the homework unattended so mom can work with the horse.
It looks like I pushed her over the edge, trying to clarify another poster’s comment? Too bad that was the one post I made she saw, not the early one giving her benefit of the doubt and advice, or the second with information on first aid kit ideas.
I’m worried about the poor horse(s) and the OP; someone is likely to get hurt. At least I can rest easy knowing the kids are learning to read. Maybe they will also learn to use punctuation, and y’know - paragraphs and stuff.
sigh
Why dont you hire someone to ship them. You can get a fill rate on uShip for something stupid for two horses. Probably a better idea than a rented trailer and 10 mpg.
Wait. Why on earth did she start another thread on the same subject???
Fill in all the sections.
For Section 4 - tick the box for live animals, and as the stallion will be travelling, tick the box for Hazardous Materials. (Hazmat would be a nice name for him) As the aged mare will be traveling, please also tick the box for Fragile.
For Section 5 - select Large Package.

It is exceptionally gracious of you to forgive me for being right.
I wear that sig with pride!
I am gracious, even in defeat :grief:

Oh, god. This thread is incredible. She looked at THOUSANDS of horses before she suddenly discovered a majikal connekshun with this stallion.
I’m also calling bs on “married with 2 kids”. Maybe someday.
Find someone else to bully. Yes i am married with 2 kids. Ive been married for 3.5 years and my kids are 5 and 1. And if you must know ny dogs are 10 4 2 and 1. My cats are 8 and 1, my ferret is 7 and my fish are about 2 years old. Dont need to really explain my life to everyone but since everyone wants to gang up and bully people. And if you must know, i dont know what your guys problem is with me and why you feel the need to be rude and nasty towards a complete stranger but i have a great family and support system. We are aware of costs that go into caring for a horse and are prepared. We own our home so no mortgage. No boarding fees, no purchase fees for the horse. I just have to go get him. And i offered to help pay for his gelding, vet check, health certificate and coggins. But he said no. And he had him for sale and had several people wanting to purchase him but decided to give him to me because i have the opportunity to have a horse. You can call bs on whatever you want. But don’t hate on other peoples lives when your insecure about yourself. Im tiered of people feeling they can talk down to me, belittle me, attack me and bully me. If you dont have anything positive to say then bye. But i have to overcome dealing with bullies such as yourself. And im not going to walk away because you want to try and be hurtful.

Sounds like a wonderful opportunity for you to get those horses to care for and train.
My first item in that situation would be getting a trainer on board right from the start, to help with the evaluation and training.
That would make life afterwards so much easier, to have a second pair of very experiences eyes there to help with the transition.
I expect you already have that lined up?
As for the list you provided, some of it is good to have on hand right off, like a halter and lead and extra halters and leads, buckets, first aid kit and a basic grooming kit with brushes, currycomb and hoofpick, that you can use right away.
In some places, fly spray also helps keep horses comfortable if there are flies there.
Some of the other, you may never need, depending on what you do with the horses and is something you can add later, as you need.
Don’t forget, that is important, to take many pictures, in all places, so you later have those to enjoy also.
It is fun to start preparing for the new horses, is it.
Tgank you for being sp polite. Yes i am very excited about finally having my own horse. Ali will be for myself and my husband to ride where we have our friends horse daisy for the kids to ride. My husband sees how determined i am to go get this horse and knows once i am determined i get things done. Hence why we have 4 rescue dogs. ive been budgeting and pricing everything out and bought his first halter the other day. And that just made it all feel like im just one step closer to getting him. He is my dream horse. Beautiful and calm spirited. We started clearing out the wooded area where we are going to have him stay and got about 1/4 of it cleared in a few hours. We still have a lot of work to do. But every weekend we go up there and will do more work on it. And before i know it, his spot will be cleared, his fence and shelter will be installed and well be ready to go pick him up! I anticipate to have it all done this winter so when spring does come we can get up there as soon as possible. For first aid kits i know ill need gauze wraps, ductape, scissors, iodine, colic paste, dewormer, fly mask, and im still adding to the list. Our plan is to call the vet as we are driving up so the day we arrive we can get everything done or have it done a week in advanced. Fls law right now i know is the hc needs to be 30 days or less old, that they need to have their temp documented, any sort of registration papers and coggins has to be done within 6 months. I called ahead to the ag cent last week and they said to call about a week ahead before we leave to make sure nothing gas changed. This is honestly a dream come true. And my husband pretty much just told me to ignore the nay sayers as they have nothing better to do than be rude to people. But i know i will be taking A LOT of pictures! ive just been so excited about it i just cannot wait. thank you again for not being rude like a lot of other people here. I really appreciate it.
Food for thought. The next time you get behind your keyboard think about what you say before you say it as likely you dont know the person you are about to attack and bully. You dont know that persons mental state or life. And i personally can tell you i have been battling with severe depression since i was a child. I was always bullied growing up and made fun of because id rather be around animals than people. And this is a perfect example why. People get off on hurting other people and putting them down. Where most animals want nothing more than to show you how much they love you. All of my animals have been strays or animals that i have personally gone and rescued before being brought to the shelter and put down. All of them have had behaviour issues and i have taken my time and effort to making them the animals they are today. I even spent 6 months going and laying on the ground every night just to get a severely ferel cat to trust me. That cat will not go to anyone else but me and i walk out that door and call his name he comes running to get petted. I have always had a love for animals and i have always had a gift of getting the most difficult animals to behave. I wont say i never havent gotten biten, scratched, kicked, or drug. Because i have. But my will power and love for animals always over powers anytime i get injured and people tell me to give up. In no way am i saying training cats and dogs is the same as horses because its not but i know that i have what it takes to make this horse my horse and my best friend. I do not have patience for ignorant people but i have all rhe patience in the world for any animal. I know i will get tossed, i expect it. I expexr to have some really bad days where i will feel like giving up but i know that in the end it will all be worth it. I have overcome a lot of obstacles in my life, between an abusive mother and an abusive step father, to never knowing my real father, sexual abuse, having a kid at 17 and still graduated highschool by myself, losing a baby to an ectopic pregnancy and almost dieing and losing many of my animals over the years. I could have given up on life many many years ago when i wanted to but my love for animals is what has given ne purpose in life. And ny kids are what make me stronger every day. I make it a point to make sure my kids will have a better life than i did and to be a batter parent than my mother was, because she even has said i am a better mom than she ever was and now i no longer speak to her and the only person in my family i do speak to is my great uncle. Every single day we talk about life, the horses etc. And he knows how passionate i am about animals and how i prefer to take in animals that need wprk than an animal that is ready. Which is why he wants me to have ali. Not just because hes a expensive pretty horse but because he knows i will do everything in my power to make sure that ali will become the best horse that his potential can reach because of my dedication and determination. So for everyone who wants to get behind your keyboard and say mean and nasty hurtful things how about you get to know someone and their life before judging them and trying to put them down. Thank you all have a great day.

I have looked into uship previously. It was $1000 a horse to have them shipped. Id much rather go there, see my uncle, meet thr horses and decide if either one is a good fit or if he has another one hes willing to let go. But i honestly dont think we are going to get diah due to her age, but im still dead set on ali.
