New Pony! Fern Update: Two YEARS down the road, post 59

I think he is going to grow up to be a very good pony! I was pretty unmotivated at the start of the year and wasn’t in the mood to start babies, which is odd since it’s one of my favorite things to do - but I plowed ahead anyway and he’s really been more fun than you can shake a stick at. He can be very show-y and snorty on the ground, so I was kind of surprised by how ho-hum he is under saddle (not that I’m complaining!).

He is really growing into being a super good looking fella. That one pic under saddle with the bosal. Like wow.

When he’s fully shed out later this spring, there will be fancy photos done :star_struck: Maybe even under saddle if he’s going well in a bridle by then.

Nice solid built conformation! Great color. Would probably make an awesome driving pony also.

He is ROCKING that bosal!

Yeah, it’s that picture. Seeing a neck come out of the wither like that just screams athletic and good posture. And a great start. :heart_eyes:

Ssshhh! I do not need another discipline to buy stuff for. :rofl: But I will say I think he would be an excellent CDE pony. He’s quick and catty.

@JB & @PaddockWood I think he’s pretty cute, but I am definitely biased!

Ride #13 just posted, hot off the presses this morning. Not the most flattering thumbnail :rofl: but I can’t be bothered to create a better one.

First time I’ve ridden him in just the bridle, so you’ll see him fuss about it here and there at the beginning. Also, the Pivo is really starting to get on my nerves. This ride it was both too fast (trotting) and too slow (losing us repeatedly while cantering). I’m hopeful that when we move out to riding in the field it’s performance will be more satisfactory. :roll_eyes:

Good on you for choosing leg on soft rein forward when he fusses w the bit!

nothing good ever comes from fiddling with the reins :wink:

Very nice!

His feet look fantastic! I know you do the trimming. Good job :clap:.

Thank you! He has pretty good feet now, although I still have to keep him on a fairly short schedule to manage the balance issues.

:ok_hand::smiley:
Cute pony :heart_eyes:
If you don’t wanna drive him (my 2¢ says Do it!), he’ll.make a cute kids Hunter.
BTW:
I love his soundtrack is a Samba :dancer:

Fern is quite adorable!

I kind of giggled at the Pivo, it was like it wanted nothing more than to look at the two horses napping in the corner. Every time around it would try to stop there and finally it just gave in to its desires and stayed there.
(yes, I realize it is a computer and does not have wishes and desires.)

You have made an amazing transformation in him! Very impressive.

It definitely has it’s bad days :roll_eyes: the other horses were off at the other end of the property when we started, and I was hoping if they came up that the fly sheets would be visually confusing enough not to distract the poor gadget. I was wrong.

This morning, I increased his aerodynamic capacity :laughing: I did a tiny bib clip on him last spring with my smaller/quieter battery powered clippers, but this was his first time ever seeing the big boy (read: noisy) clippers. I hadn’t planned on clipping him this year but it’s been 85 and humid, soo…

Fancy! He looks like you put a warmblood through the hot wash…

He is so awesome! Seeing his initial photos, I had no idea he would grow so much and blossom the way he did. Amazing!

If anyone needs their own yearling yak transformation project… there is a nice looking redhead in the after-sale bin for $300, at the same auction I got Bo from. :grimacing: The “house” buys some horses and then offers them at a flat price (making a small profit) in the week after the auction, same way I got Bo. If they don’t sell they usually get run through the auction again the following weekend.

I do not need more horses :joy: but someone else might!

He does look like he would fit in perfectly at your place.
