New Rambo and Rhino Blankets

Unless they’re different than the ones I have, they’re not stitched in, just looped over themselves. It’s a bit fussy to get them undone–I’ve found a hoof pick helps–but doable. I’ve yanked them on several of mine.

Yeah, I put my old lady mare in a 72" Optimo when her normal Rambo wardrobe is 75" and it fits her well. The only weirdness is that belly straps are oddly short. My Rambo straps are always bordering on too long & they’re snugged up all the way, but the Optimo’s are probably 1/3rd from the end. Nbd for her, but it could be a problem for a horse that’s using more of the length that Rambo offers.

Ok, since I have given up and am disputing my Jeffers order (they’re no longer responding to me about the status of my order: tracking or refund. Radio silence since Wednesday. Tomorrow marks 21 days since my order), I need alternatives. I will never order from Jeffers again.

My gelding is an 81 and still needs weight. The Rambo original fits him really well. I love Rhinos but worry that they will look like he’s wearing a mini skirt (he’s 16.2/16.3 and too big for everything like my stalls and my trailer). I haven’t had a lot of experience with Amigos. I really need a medium (200-250 weight) with neck. I don’t want to spend Rambo prices because well, I don’t. So many amigos are sold out except with the stupid plastic plate. I will not get that. My other gelding loves Velcro and that thing is fun (he opened it on a fly sheet bc why not). I’d stick with Rambo originals if I didn’t need a neck cover.

I’m open to Premier Equine but worried about ship time.

Budget $300.

Stateline is running a decent sale on Rambo stuff if you wanna try again somewhere else. Horse.com probably has similar prices since they’re the same company. I always check both before buying from either.

I was looking too in case this 75" won’t settle into fitting any of my horses :-/

I really wish the originals accommodated neck covers because they fit him well enough. Sigh.

I have a similar horse - Smartpak Ultimates (currently on sale) work well. He’s a 78-81 depending on brand, SP runs big so I have him in 78s. I’d get the regular neck not high neck.

I’ve not tried PE but I’ve heard good things - they’re always out of stock when I go to buy, and I don’t want to wait for international shipping lol.

My only issue with my Premier Equine 100g is that it’s heavy. Especially when wet. In absorbs water like a sponge, but the horse does stay dry.

Do they not? My original with leg arches has the rings for the neck covers that attach sort of like the liners.

Like, ummmmm, these?

Course you’re in for more $$$ on top of the blanket $$$. :frowning:

I have a couple Premier Equine pieces. I don’t use them. They’re just a LOT. Heavy, so many fasteners. I have a fly sheet with like seven or something Velcro straps to close the neck. And they rubbed. I know some people really like them but it was all just too much, of everything, for me.

What in the world is going on with Rambo pricing at the moment.

I casually pursued the size 81 original arch blanket in the second link above: navy/silver in that size is 258.96 while the black/green is 369.95.

That’s a huge price difference between normal, popular colors.

When I’ve ordered from PE the blankets have arrived really quickly, like within 10 days. But, it’s the holiday season now, and that by itself could delay things.

I have a 78 Deluxe that… is no where close to fitting him. It’s too narrow and short (looks like a mini skirt and his butt hangs out). I don’t know if the Ultimates are similar but I am not sure the 81 would fit. He’s not an 84 but the sizing was off.

That some of us have received stuff that was made in Ireland (haven’t they been manufacturing in Asia for YEARS now?) makes me think they’re aggressively liquidating old stock.

The leg arch ones do, not the other ones. For whatever reason I opened the one link twice because I can’t function like a normal human today. It’s a Monday. I’m multitasking.

It’s definitely a Monday! :joy::joy:

I’ve only ever had the v front clip blankets. That’s weird that they don’t do hoods for the original originals. You’d think it would just be a bonus to do so!

I have a deluxe that fits weird too, but it’s a stable sheet. The Ultimate is better, but not as good a fit as the Horseware lines.

Oh, and I asked someone locally that has PE and they agree - they’re HEAVY. And once they’re wet they take forever to dry, but the horse stays dry! I had a fly sheet from them that ended up not fitting (bought the horse’s usual size and he’s very consistent, it was a weird fit), and it was heavy but durable. I didn’t keep it so idk if it would’ve rubbed.

Anyway, just some info!

I think I’ll pass on the ultimate then. I think they’re great for large group turnout or horses that are hard on clothing. With 2, I don’t have that issue.

PayPal dispute in the works. Let’s see how this goes…

Think I’m going with the Rambo original that @Simkie shared and I’ll just pick up a neck cover.

This damn thread sent me down the rabbit hole of a “weight for all weather!” and I just bought a no-fill rain sheet (aready have one, but it doesn’t fit him great) and a 100g winter. I also have what I think is a 150 or 200g winter, a 300g with no hood and a 300g with hood.

For one bloody horse

Now to resist the urge to give anything away and just tuck it into a box so I can go shopping in my own barn the next time I decide we “need” something.

Hey @PaddockWood thanks very much for the heads up about the proofing on the Optimos. Mine also had water penetration today, ugh.

It looks like the Irish made 75" duo will fit my old lady mare and the 72" Optimo looks better on the gelding. I know that Horseware advises sizing down for Optimo but it’s pretty crazy that a 72" is fitting noticeably larger than the 75" Duo. It fits about like my other 75" stuff, which is what I expected. That Irish duo is just tight, wow.

Now to try & get the Optimo warranty replaced. Sigh.

I demanded a refund TODAY or I will file a dispute with PayPal. This is what I received:

I have written this up for you. Please let me know if there is anything more I can assist you with. Have a great day!

LOL like I don’t know maybe they could help by giving you your dollarz back??

The refunds I’ve gotten have processed right away. They have no excuse. What a joke.
