New Rambo and Rhino Blankets

Ugh is right. I starting wondering if maybe they sold a bad batch for cheap from last year with all the issues. Rrrrr.

It’s funny you mention the sizing down. My mustang is very baroque so I actually size up on him - he measures 72 but a 75 Wug fits well. The 72 Wug is to snug and he gets bitey about that blanket.

And yes, on the Optimo my mare measures 78 and the 75 Optimo is too big on her but fits well enough.

Yeah, that’s what I’m thinking, too.

If you’re submitting a warranty request, I wasn’t able to make the form work using the registration number. Reproofing the blanket in the first three years voids the warranty…I remember you mentioned trying that route first.

The only think that hasn’t been expected on sizing is that damned 75" Duo that’s been such a headache. It really fits like a 72". I should lay it out against one of my other 75" regular Rambos and see how it lines up. I wonder if being short counts as a “manufacturing defect” worth another warranty claim?

Since when did buying new blankets become so HARD. :frowning:

It’s getting like saddlefitting. No, saddlefitting is still a whole nuther hell layers deeper. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

May be too late to help you, but I bought my guy the 81" Amigo 1200D XL rain sheet [already had the liner(s) and neck] earlier this fall, and it fits him around the neck like custom made.
Major rainstorm happening here today too, and so far it’s kept him dry.
Last winter he wore an 81 Rambo original w/ leg arches rainsheet with liner. It just seemed a titch tight through the neck. Bought the XL from Apple Saddlery in Ottawa (Canadian version of Dover, I guess?). Bonus: our $ is tanking so bad you may save a huuuuge amount even IF it’s not on sale @ Apple…

This thread has: a) tested my urge at resisting purchasing items I don’t need because “it’s a good deal” and b) proven the equestrians truly do speak our own language esp blanket language :joy: I get weird looks from my barn mates over how much analysis I give blankets. Can’t say we aren’t an informed bunch!

Since Jeffers Black Friday sale!

Seriously though- it’s true. It’s hard to have consistent sizing and quality when items are made at different places and different countries who maybe don’t follow quality controls correctly, etc. It’s definitely a little bit of science and little bit of luck. I am typically fine paying more for something if it’s quality and fits well. I am super close to trying a Duo Force if for no other reason than comparing it to my regular Duo that’s brand new sitting in the bag yet.

If anything, this thread certainly answered the OP’s question if buying new Rambo & Rhino blankets is worth it.

Answer: it’s a crapshoot.

It’s a bummer that there definitely seems to be something amiss at Horseware Ireland right now. I feel like it was the one brand I could trust for consistency. Now, not so much.

I may look into this next year if I can find something local or when everyone has more stock. I definitely will need an extra sheet or 100g so that’s an interesting line to look at!

I did order the Rambo original medium from Stateline in navy/silver that was much cheaper than the green (I don’t get it?) and the neck cover. I should be set.

Just need my money back from Jeffers. According to PayPal, I need to give them “time to respond” to my dispute before I escalate to a claim… I’m over this. I figure if they don’t respond via PayPal in 24 hours, they’re not interested. When did Jeffers get this…awful [insert any other less board appropriate word of choice here]?

Rambo Duo Bundle is available today from Horseware of Ireland for $279.95 but no 81s.

I had a brief moment of weakness but OMG no I don’t need to buy another set :joy::joy:

Especially in such an awful color for a horse blanket :joy::joy:

(Showing the short tail flap–wonder if these are all old made in Ireland stock?)

I would have bought it despite the most awful color but NO ONE HAS 81s!!

Officially at 3 weeks. Still waiting on money. I’ll get it but it’s in PayPal’s hands now.

Ugh, when I’ve had to dispute via PayPal, it does take awhile :sob:

Hey @PaddockWood I heard back from Horseware on my warranty claim for the Optimo and they route those through the vendor. You’ll need to get in touch with Horseloverz about your sheet. (Or send the request through the Horseware form, and they’ll tell Horseloverz to get in touch, I guess. Maybe good for Horseware to get the info, too?)

I love this color on blankets. It might get muddy, but it doesn’t suck in the heat of the sun on those betweener-days. I have blankets purchased intentionally for the light colors - Bucas Sun Shower etc.

I’d buy that color too.

But which size?! 75 or 78?

The one from Jeffers is small, but doable. My new model 100g in 78 is too big. If this one fits like the one from Jeffers, then I’d need a 78…but if it doesn’t…

Email them & ask about country of manufacture?

I’m totally with you on all of it @pompeiii. I am going to escalate my claim with PayPal by Friday if they don’t respond. I have the emails telling me they cancelled the order and would refund me submitted. Suppose I could go straight to the CC I used if PayPal fails.

BTW I have an older Amigo Hero in a light color like that and it looks surprisingly good still. But yes, no 81.

All of my Rambos have the same logo embroidery and they all fit the same. Seems mine are made in Ireland then? But I thought my one Duo that sucked for waterproofing had been a run from somewhere else.

Also Pompeiii, the Rambo in green and white I believe is only heavyweight. Which would explain the price difference. Blue with leg arches is medium.

I bought a new style 100g from Bit of Britain. It was $277 and I got a $100 gift card for spending $200. They’ve been a bit slow, but decent in the past.

I know this is a new style, and the 75 will work (78 is too big in this version). I know I could’ve tried the 78 in the one Horseware is selling, but I don’t need more liners  I know I can resell them, but honestly, I don’t want to deal with that! So I think I have my 100g blankets sorted.

I do need to sell a new 200g Rambo Wug. My horse is too thick for it at age 3, so I don’t foresee a Wug ever working for him :grimacing:

I will say that my new Rambo 0g (made in Cambodia) is very hydrophobic and dries quickly.

I think all my older Rambos are made in Ireland, but this new made in Ireland Duo definitely fits smaller than everything else I’ve got in that size. :-/

The country of manufacture should be on the back of the tag that’s sewn in at the chest if you wanna check through what you’ve got.

It doesn’t matter, but it appears the more expensive one was black and green not green and white. I just checked and it was also a 200g. Who knows… Older stock? Either way, I’m happy to take the less expensive version!

In terms of disputes, PayPal generally sides on the side of the customer. They just five the seller time to respond. If they don’t respond, you automatically win and get refunded. If they do respond, they make a judgement which doesn’t mean you won’t win. I uploaded all my correspondence with Jeffers. Honestly, not getting a product is pretty much a guarantee to win. And again, PayPal usually sides with the buyer anyway. You can escalate to a claim too (not entirely sure how this all works).
