New Rambo and Rhino Blankets

Jeffers officially cancelled my order and refunded me just now in response to the PayPal complaint. What an ordeal! I noticed on the complaint info that the complaint is routed to a different email address than the customer service one.

@Simkie I looked on one of my tags yesterday and didn’t see any “made in” info but I will check again.

What?!?!

I have gotten no where even with a PayPal dispute!!! I just can’t even… do they think they are getting me my blanket or something? I don’t want it.

I would just escalate it to PayPal then.

Hypostore and Fundis have the Duo 2.0 in stock in 81 for less than the cost here (around $500 USD). Shipping can be a bit slow…last package I had was delayed in customs for a little while…and I will be traveling so I am not going to order now but both of those stores are legit.

PayPal has had it since yesterday. It’s still under the “dispute” vs “claim” since I automatically will win if Jeffers stays silent. I’m just impatient.

Do you mean that Jeffers refunded you when you told them you were going to PayPal or did you actually go to PayPal?

Good to know about Hypostore and Fundis. I should be set for now. I don’t need to drop $500, at least not until I get my refund…

I did go to PayPal yesterday end of day. You won’t automatically win if they don’t respond. PayPal told me I’d have to escalate my claim by 1/5 if they don’t cooperate.

They told me the opposite.

But either way, interesting that they responded to you and not me… do they think I’m trying to scam them? I’m so lost.

@pompeiii @IPEsq I too had a bad experience with Jeffers last year - must have been one of my non waterproof Rambos. Took them a while to get their act together and respond and take care of me.
Since then when I get an email from them on some sale or someone says there’s a deal with them it’s just not worth the chance of a bad experience again.

PE shipping is crazy fast. I have ordered from them a couple days after a domestic order, and had it in hand two days before the earlier-ordered domestic item arrived. And I’m in CA, so it has to go even further.

ETA: I will agree with the folks who say they get heavy, that is a complaint I have. But we’ve gotten several storms this year that dumped 3+ inches of rain at a time over the course of 24-36 hours, and my horses live out–they have a shed that they don’t use. The ones wearing PE blankets stayed dry. Meanwhile the one wearing a gifted, supposedly waterproof Rhino got soaked, and two Shires blankets that only have one season under them also leaked horribly. At this point I just refuse to use anything else.

I haven’t found the blanket fasteners to be any more burdensome than other brands–two chest clips, two surcingles, and either a tail strap or leg straps and velcro for the neck–but I don’t have their fly sheets, which do look they have a whole lot going on.

OP here!

My Rhino 100g Plus (and 150g Rhino hood that matches) finally came. FedEx decided instead of putting it on the deck they’d throw it in the woods near the end of my driveway. Yes, literally in the woods. I get home from work at midnight to check if it’s delivered and see the picture showing proof of delivery. Then spent the next 15 minutes looking through the woods in the pitch black with a flashlight looking for it.

Went to try it on my mare today and wouldn’t you know. The Rhino Plus now has 2 long velcro attachments for the hood which I was aware of when I bought it but the exact same color of Rhino hood in the 150g I bought separately has the normal 4 small square velcros. I wanted to cry. After 20 days waiting for it to come, fighting for a tracking number and then searching through it in the woods at night I just wanted everything to work out well. Luckily the blanket and the hood it came with fit well, and the BOT liner attachments line up perfectly with it.

My hate for FedEx is only surpassed by my hate for Jeffers right now. Toss packages wherever…like the neighbors! Or a random horse field (friend’s experience). I had a signature required item left… ON THE ROAD. Driver forged my signature but I couldn’t prove it.

Thanks for the tips! Would something like this work? I am not much for crafts but I can probably manage to get needles through preexisting holes…

I can show you some pics of mine if that helps? Here are the two Duos.

Optimo:

An old wug I have hanging in the house. It’s maybe…8 years old?

Although I did pull that 81" Duo out to see where it was made and it didn’t have a tag stating country of manufacture in a place I expected. Everything else I’ve checked does, though :woman_shrugging:

Ah got it. I need to check my old Duo again but I did look at the Duo Tech from 2021 and it is made in Ireland. All of my Rambos really fit the same. They changed the sizing for Amigo stable clothes last year so now those fit a lot smaller. Just had to go with 81 and 84 in the new convertible stable blanket instead of 78 and 81.

What vexxes me is that I’ve got alllllll this made in Ireland 75" stuff–different lines even!–and it’s all really consistent in sizing. No surprises.

Until this stupid Duo, which was such a hassle, and is small.

Whatever, I guess. It fits a horse in my barn, just not the one I bought it for. And with this news that Horseware is sending warranty requests to the vendor, I’m sure as shit not working with Jeffers on it being weird!!

That is interesting that your 2021 Duo is made in Ireland. I thought they’d moved all their manufacturing to Asia long before that!

Yes something like that. I buy kits of waxed thread for leather working on Amazon because I use it for button braids. I’ve also picked up some of the needles in the sewing sections of Walmart and Hobby Lobby. When the stitching on my boot zippers wears out in areas of high wear or more horse sweat, I also use this stuff for those repairs.

I’ve tried using embroidery thread for blankets since the original thread looks like some kind of nylon thread, but after my horse ripped off that one piece of velcro 3x, I went with the waxed thread. So far so good! I have basic sewing skills. Going through old holes just helps the effort level when you don’t have a machine and you have some layers of nylon to go through. For leather repair it is not only easier but helps protect the integrity of the leather. Helps to also have a leather thimble or two to keep from poking yourself.

FWIW, my Duo was from Horseware end of season last year and fits true to size- 72 for my short backed youngster. I feel like the ones directly from HW are more consistent. Maybe??

Perhaps Jeffers got a batch of ones that didn’t meet quality control and sold them cheap. Who knows but based on the issues seen here, something is up.

Good to know.

Yeah, I don’t know what’s up with the Jeffers blankets. I’m fine with mine. It’s a bit short, but not much shorter than his new 0g Rambo.

It’s hard with this horse. In a 75 his bum hangs out a bit. In a 78 it’s too long and pulls back off of his shoulder. He’s too wide/big in the neck and shoulder for a Wug though

I thought so too, and after having not that many seasons of waterproofing on a couple other Rambos, I bought it only because I went to Aiken and my horse was out in the rain for days and days (not using his shelter), and I was finding out just how many rugs I had that weren’t so waterproof and/or took days to dry. So I bought the Duo Tech and it’s been one of my best blankets yet.

But we are going back to Aiken shortly and the other horse is certainly going to get wet if I can’t find him something else to wear. He’s filled out so much he doesn’t really fit into the other Rhinos or Amigos I have with necks or high neck and only wears Rambo now. My Rambo medium also got a little soaked through in 1/2 day of snow here already and is not that reliable. Though I do have one 84" 100g Amigo that hasn’t been worn since 2019 and may or may not keep him dry? Was going to take it anyway to make into a heavy if needed. I’ve already tried Nikwax a few times on the 100g older Duo he’s been wearing, and it’s basically only good for dry, windy CO.

At least Adams moved to Aiken so if they ever get 100g anything decent back in stock, I’ll run over there. Neither horse approves of being out in the cold wet (or truthfully probably any wet unless it’s self-induced mud wearing) unless properly clothed.

@IPEsq My friend works at Adams and she unpacked 47 Horseware boxes yesterday so you might see it soon!

The Rambos I just got from Corro (originals w/ t front, no neck option) are both made in Ireland. It turns out all of my Rambos are made in Ireland (including the ill-fated used sheet I bought). Super interesting! My Stateline purchase arrives today so I’ll have to see where those are made. Side note. Since when has Stateline ever shipped fast? I ordered Monday. Arrives today. Economy shipping. Is the world ending?
