New site GLITCH and PROBLEM reporting HERE

If something is not working, please let us know here. It’s going to take us all some time to figure out some of the new bells & whistles, and if there’s something from the old site that is not here that you miss, please let us know.

The developers are not done, and they’re anticipating addressing needs/wants of users as we transition to the new site.

Thanks so much!

Read threads are not showing up looking any differently on the list than unread threads for me.

I came to share that same problem. It’s not tracking what we have read nor is it showing read/unread. At the forum level, it tells you if there are new posts, but not at the post level.

It looks like font size is larger than it was an hour ago or whenever I commented on having to zoom out to make the whole middle column show and it being nearly too small to read. Now that’s much more legible.

The new update is exciting and I do really like how modern the new site feels… and I also really love how you can personalize the format of the website in your USER SETTINGS.

Just a suggestion: I don’t like the “Facebookification” of the forums - IE That “Like Button”. It may seem strange but language (and the context in which language is implemented and understood) is very important and I much preferred the “Did you find this post helpful?” context.

For me, the site does not automatically resize, though the format implies that it should based on monitor size. As such, I have to scroll to the right every time the page reloads because the QUICKLINKS side-bar on the left seems disproportionately large.

Will there be a “read new posts/new active posts” option on the new site? I miss that sorely – it’s my primary method of browsing.

I do like the fact that we can un-like a post if we hit the like button unintentionally. That is a great feature.

I am not finding something that duplicates the ‘todays posts’ option we had before (I think that is what it was called).
I have tried the recent post option on the main page and it lists a bunch of threads but does not give any information on them (what forum, how many posts, etc).

The times on the posts all seem off. I’m in CT, it’s 11:47am, and I’m seeing new posts listed as 12:45pm. I even confirmed that my time zone is set correctly.

Also the site is very very slow to load, but I’m assuming that’s because it’s new and perhaps lots of people are checking it out right now?

@beowulf We should be able to customize things further in terms of the Like button.

For the sizing issue, what browser and version are you using to access the site?

Anyone else having this issue?

I’m not disagreeing with you, but could you describe what you miss about the New Posts feature on the old site compared to the Latest Activity tabs on the new site, so I can accurately convey users’ thoughts to the development team?

Thanks!

I love the tag feature!

Okay, so the “VIEW NEW POSTS” option - I wish I had the direct URL, but it was something like www.chronofhorse.com/forum/getnewposts&active/excludeforums91&96 - when I am on my home computer I can pull up the URL

It was a way to browse the forum based on new posts, not new threads. It excluded all posts in OFF TOPIC subforums, but you could tweak the URL to make it not exclude them. Right now, the forum has a “see latest activity” option, but that activity is based on new threads, not new replies – I much prefer the new replies format.

PS I’m using Mozilla (most recent update) + Windows XP.

I am computer illiterate so I might not be reading Beowulf’s comment right. I find the column (the forum text body) is centered the same no matter page I am on.

Edit to add - Beowulf described the new post button we had before well. It was in the top bar of the old forum. It gave a list of every thread that had new posts since the last time I was active on the forum.

@beowulf I’m almost positive we will be able to exclude the OT/CE forums from the home page’s Latest Activity tab.
The Latest Activity tabs from each forum list new posts under that forum.

So, if possible, we’d like to have a one-click option to be able to list new posts since your last visit, from all forums, excluding the OT forums. Is that correct?

@Natalie A I filled in minimal information in my profile and it accepted that with no problem. I think you should be able to fill in what you’d like to make available to people, save it, and you’ll be good.

@Nestor I’m experiencing the same issues. Thanks!

I am also missing Today’s Posts, that was my go-to.

i think Trubandloki and I are referring to the same thing - I also don’t think the LATEST ACTIVITY has the same information: IE, which forum it was posted in, who the last poster was, how many pages/replies, etc.

another thing I hope is changed: when viewing a subforum, AKA something like OT, the threads no longer show the number of pages they have – for instance, some have six pages and some have 100, but there’s no option to click which page number you want. Can we have that back? Otherwise I have to click the thread then go to the last page, instead of just clicking the last page from the sub-forum’s ‘home page’.

We are. You just describe it better than I do.

I’ve gone to my profile/account settings several times and changed the number of threads per page to 20 or 30, but even when I save the changes, I’m still only seeing the default 10 threads per page. I have tried logging out and logging back in, but that didn’t change anything.

I made this mistake. If we’re talking about the same thing, it’s Posts per page, Not Threads. So I’m now seeing 20 posts once I’m inside the thread (like now), but I still only see 10 threads (for ex: under Off Course) because that’s not a setting we can change. (I don’t think.)

Chrome here, but I can’t figure out how to know which version as there is no menu bar in it.

Also, I miss multi-quote ability.

It’s not letting me add a picture/avatar from the mobile interface, which is what I’m on 99.9% of the time. Is there a way to change that? I’m using Safari if that helps.

The ignore feature doesn’t work for me. I see the users I have on Ignore listed in my settings, but they still show up when I’m viewing threads. I also can’t add anyone to that existing list - it’s not really clear just HOW to add them. The option to “ignore” is no longer on a user’s profile page.

Not that I have that many on ignore, but the one’s I do have are there for a reason.

Also, I have an ad-blocker but the COTH ads still appear which they didn’t under the old format. I find it really distracting to have text and pictures flipping around on the right-hand side while trying to read. Can we turn those off?

Thanks.
