Nike riding boots?

Seen the Nike Ippeas yet? Where can I get this boot!

Those are cool!!! I wonder how much they’ll cost?

This is mentioned on the “Should we boycott the Olympics?”

thread…And all I can think is, if they’re made in China, please don’t buy them, along with any other Chinese goods that you can do without.

They are cool looking boots, though.

I go out of my way to avoid Chinese made goods. But this boot… I am not sure I can resist…

Cool looking boots… but…

I just Googled “Where are Nike shoes manufactured?”. They are most likely made in China,
and even if not, according to the info. provided from Wikopedia,
Nike has an embarrassing record of exploiting it’s workers, paying them next to nothing, no health insurance or sick days…etc.

I have only just begun to pay attention to this sort of thing.

Yes, what ISN’T made in China nowadays, and we Americans are enjoying our relatively clean environment as well as amazing overall prosperity at the expense of China’s. Not to mention China’s atrocious record of human rights violations…

Sorry.

Eeeeewww - I don’t like the heels at all. Could just be the photo I saw, but uh-uh, I won’t be buying 'em anytime soon!

That thing is fuuuugggggly.

I think I’ll stick to my Ariats thanks.

An unfortunate looking boot. That style of zipper makes me cringe. I am not into seeing zippers in a riding boot. Made in China? Phfffft. That finishes that question.

I think the dressage trainer who cringed when she saw me with a bridle that had rhinestones on the cavesson would positively drop dead if she saw those  She doesn’t have to worry, though, I find them pretty ugly. And I bought a normal bridle

I think they’re ugly but the Made in China would never let me buy them even if they were gorgeous. I found out yesterday that my Ipod car attachment thingy is Made in China. :frowning:

In speaking with someone whose job it is to keep a watch on such companies, it turns out that those companies who have been under the most scrutiny have had to make big changes. Nike, Gap et al are on high alert in case their vendors employ child labor etc. since the big child labor scandals of the 1990s. As a result they are (sometimes) now far better employers than a huge number of companies you haven’t heard about - yet - who have their products made by smaller sweatshops that are under the radar so far.

Read some interesting arguments for sweatshops here.

Probably a whole lot of our things are made in China. Be interesting to take an inventory. Bet if I inventories all the things I could that are in my car, I’d be all like  then like :o and really .’

I’m 99% sure you can’t buy this boot. I heard on the news the other day that none of the shoes Nike has made for this year’s Olympic athletes are available to the public.

I’m not sure if they will be after the Olympics or not – but for now, I don’t think you can buy them.

I asked Nike and posted on UDBB: they say they’re made for the Olympic athletes, but some may possibly be available through retail stores - no guarantees.

OMG are those things ugly or what. Thank goodness they aren’t available to the public!

Unfortunately…

Most of the new Ariats are made in China too… (what isn’t these days? LOL)

And no, I don’t think they’re classic looking, not for the dressage crowd, but I can see them in jumpers, or eventing…
but ugh, not if they’re made in China…

OK, now off the soap box and on to other topics… sorry.

My Dehners were made in Omaha, Nebraska!

I think they’re kind of cool. Certainly not any uglier than those Mountain Horse boots. Eecchhh. :dead:

Can someone give a link to a picture of these boots?

Are the spurs removable?
