Just curious, are there some horses who have done really well in eventing but aren’t the typical TB/WB sporthorsey type?
I believe there is a Saddlebred jumping around Prelim? He’s an 8 year old named Arvo.
There is the New Forest pony mare,Forest Nymph , doing the 2* with Sinead.
P.
There was a horse that was blogged about on EN that did at least the 3* level and maybe the 4* level (blanking on the story right now) that was some sort of crazy mix of a bunch of things that I think included draft, maybe Arab, and maybe some sort of pony breed?
Snooze Alarm and Tamarillo are both Anglo Arabians if I remember correctly. And I think there was a giant footed gelding at Badders last year that might have been a draft cross? I also recently read about a Cleveland Bay who was at the highest levels on EN or Horse and Hound, although it wasn’t a recent competitor.
Of course there is Forest Nymph too.
Lauren Kieffer specifically bought the full brother to snooze alarm (anglo arab) as a 3yo directly from his breeders. She’s currently eventing him at the CCI* level.
COTH has a story from yesterday about a Morgan who went up to Advanced. It was cool to read the story behind the horse that was on the cover the A/B Pony Club manual!
Don’t forget Teddy O’Connor, who although a TB x, had some arab and shetland pony.
I also seem to remember that John Williams’ Sloopy had some draft in him.
AAs are a traditional eventing horse.

She said non-TB/WB which is why I included them.
Vicky Masden and By Crickey was one I was thinking of who has some Exmoor Pony and Clydesdale in there. http://eventingnation.com/home/guest-blogger-from-france-pau-report/
Jonelle Price’s Mazetto is the CB I was thinking of.

Haven’t figured out the third yet.
Covert Rights is 1/4 Clydesdale running at the CCI 3* level
Several years ago there was a TB/Cleveland Bay cross stallion that was winning at advanced level in England. His name is Pembridge Minstral.
I evented a gelding of the same breeding at advanced 20 years ago.
And of course there have been many Connemaras.
Interesting! I’d like to look up the saddlebred. That is very suprising.
Yes of course there are the connemaras. I event one myself I’m a little person on a little horse but we were going Prelim before I decided to breed her to Ardceltic this coming year!
I think ASB’s are a breed that could do well for ammy’s. My heart is owned by tb’s and standies but I readily admit my current horse is very easy to get along with. (he’s asb)

Not that I would ever argue pedigrees with you, viney, but Sloopy is full TB. The only reason I know this is because he was bred by my horse’s breeder. I got to meet his dam when I picked my horse up and she was such a nice old girl I kind of wanted to take her home.

Sorry for the sidetrack, people. Carry on!
I have an ASB/Hanoverian that will hopefully be moving up to Prelim this year. And the only reason I say hopefully has to do with me the adult amateur that has never gone Prelim before, as opposed to my horse who will probably think it is a walk in the park
Carrick was the horse of john Williams’ with Canadian draft.
We have a QH mare that evented at Intermediate.
Others: Montana Native, saddlebred cross/CCI3*, Treaty won Rolex as a 3*, was a QH. Mike Huber won the Pan Ams on a QH.

Is that what she is! She is really Amazing.
Sloopy is definitely OTTB. He is actually, Sloopy’s David, by Two Davids out of Nearly Sloopy. I have his full brother, Sloopy’s Rolex.
Gretchen Butts rode Carrick’s half brother, Zydeco, at the long format four star level. They are listed as Canadian sport horses and have some draft in them.
More than one Appaloosa has made it to the upper levels. Of course I can’t, for the life of me remember their names.
Because someone here will know, what was Poltroon’s breeding? Pretty sure not OTTB with that coloring!
