Norwich Terriers! (pup pics #29)

Oh wow, what cuties! I spent the day with my mom at a local dog show - mainly went to see Norwiches because my mom wants one. If I wasn’t a Shiba Inu person at heart I would have taken home at least 4 of them. So very sweet and good tempered and not a bark out of any of them. I went expecting to hear yap yap yap. They do appear a might hard to groom though.

Anyone have one? I hope to have one soon - through my mother.

they are adorable dogs. They’ve always been on my list of must have’s when I can have another small terrier.

The mention of Norwich terriers makes me want to get out my copy of Best in Show.

Winky! I forgot about him!
I have to make my mom watch that movie now. I just so happen to own it. It is a fine documentary.

They are very cute little dogs. You’d have to get a little skill with a stripping knife, but they’re not all that hard to groom, really. If you can pull a mane, you can strip a terrier.

IIRC, James Herriot was a big fan of Norwiches

My mom is taking off work this Tuesday so we can go “look” at a puppy. Yes, we will just “look”. <enabler mode set to on>

“Look”? Yeah right…
you mean “get”?

…with their cute lit-tle derriere!

Best In Show, one of the best movies ever.

Six weeks ago I went to “look” at an Australian Cattle Dog puppy. Better go take the wee beastie for a potty break now.

I would think a Norwich would be the polar opposite of a Shiba Inu. The few that I know are typical terriers, feisty, slightly dog aggressive and barky. No offense meant by that comment. I think that the Norwich Terriers are cute little buggers. I’d be happy to enable you and your mom from afar. I bet that they are cute puppies!

I think my mom has decided to wait until she retires next year. Bummer, but I understand. If my mom lived with me it would be easy.
Maybe she’ll change her mind after sleeping on it.

I was all set to unleash cute pictures too.

And now we’re going again!

Bring the check book with the bigger balance. Norwich and Norfolks are scarce on the ground and hard to breed. Be prepared to drop four figures on a pet quality puppy from an ethical breeder.

Needless to say, do NOT buy from a puppy store, even if it will save you $500 bucks.

We were told $3000 for pet quality from the breeder. That’s more than I paid for my show quality Shiba.
You’re preaching to the choir about pet store dogs. I doubt you’d find a Norwich in a pet store anyway. There just happened to be a Norwich sweepstakes at the local dog show so we were able to meet multiple breeders.

there go my dreams of having one…

But they are a bit rare over here, aren’t they.

(which is the -wich? the one with the standing ears or the one with the floppy (sort of) ones?)

The Norwich has the standing ears, the Norfolk has the tipped ears. I like the Norfolk better. Those little tipped ears are adorable.

either is adorable.

You will need to learn this song… (re: MunchingonHay’s reference)

He might have been a fan, but the dog he had was a Border Terrier. And prior to that a JRT.

Norwich and Norfolk Terriers are wonderful but very hard to come by as they have small litters and are born by C-section. At least if you buy from a good breeder. And pricey.
