“Note to Self” my (so far happy) experience buying (a yearling! 🤦🏻‍♀️) from Bowie Livestock

I’ve always called it “red Virginia clay”.

Oh I love Sporting Clay!

I learned a new word in my search for ideas: Mudlark or Mudlarking
Also Mudstone.

Another cute one suggested by my DH is Toasted Almond. One of my favorite drinks.

I like Toasted Almond, and call her Ally/Allie

I think she’s adorable.

I like Mudhen, and then call her Maude.

Or maybe Maud Gonne, the Irish suffragette (and revolutionary)?

What about Caffe Latte; or Mocha Frosted?

Sandalwood.

I like that one.

Plus then you have two perfectly good options for barn names that follow the classic form of two syllables with a Y at the end. Sandy or Woody. Just like Nosey.

Or even Dally. Three options.

To look at it another way, there’s no law that says barn names have to be related to more formal names. For that matter, there’s no law that says she needs a both a formal name and a barn name. If she were registered with a name that for some reason you didn’t like, then sure, you might want a barn name. But since that’s not the case, you can give her a name you like and be done with it.
