Nice Gormley weaner went through. Didn’t bring a lot compared to many that are bringing 200k+.

There are some really lovely mares in this sale.
Seeing those checkerboard quarter marks really takes me back.

All of my favorite mares are going to Japan.
Vasilika, Wonder Gadot, Secret Spice…sigh. I was hoping for more races from Vasilika. She was really doing so well.
Yoshida is restocking his broodmare band after they sold off a large chunk in a “dispersal” of their stock earlier this year. essentially cleaned house of their broodmare band and refilling with new.
Cant find a list of what they sold earlier in the year. Hope they all ended up in good hands.

These sales always make me nostalgic for the days when I worked with weaners. They are so stinkin’ cute.

The handlers do such a great job. Some of the big broodmares look like they could walk all over someone not experienced and skillful.

The weanlings can be much worse than the mares–because they’ve never seen anything like this before and they aren’t as well trained. The Keeneland handlers are wonderful, totally calm and non-reactive. They can usually settle even the most fractious horses very quickly.

A few of the mares have been pretty lit up.
I can’t remember who it was here that had worked for farms that brought broodies to the sales, but I remember them saying that they had been pretty muchdragged back to the barns by enormous in foal mares after they went through the ring.
I’ll try to find that thread later.

Mostly I’m checking out the new sires’ offspring: Gun Runner, Arrogate, Mastery, Lord Nelson so far. Of course, today was Book 1, so they all look great.
