Can anyone see what’s coming next?
Gee, Peter loves riding, and Anna is getting hooked on riding already…they only have one horse and there’s two of them…hmmmm…
I give it a year (or a little less).

On more thing, about the car licking, some horse love the paint on vehicles…maybe someone here can tell me why!
I’ve seen it over and over, some have no interest, some lick it, and some like to scrape the paint off with their teeth…ask me how I know
Puika just gives a gentle lick, like a kiss, and that’s all - with his neverending nipping we suspected that he will try out at least mirrors on car, but not at all… Completely gentle lover!
Since Peter is in love, I guess these means Puika will live you forever! I am sure the old man who owned him must feel very relieved that his horse will have a good home. What a sweet story of Puika licking Peter when he fell and helping him get up!!! Definitely a wonderful horse (I am not sure that my own horse would be so concerned about me).
Did Peter get hurt ???
Oh my! I love Puika more and more everyday
The way he behaved towards Peter when he fell off, I think he needs to star in his own Disney movie
As much as I love Tiempo the wonderhorse, I know if I fell off, he would be off running around the farm looking for an adventure…do you even need to ask me how I know this?:lol::lol::lol:

Chill out, I was referring to my area and my circle of friends. Edited to make it clearer, jeez![/QUOTE]
I’m sorry if I came accross snippy, it was meant with humor
No worries eh?
No, Peter did not get hurt (except his knee which needs complete rest for few weeks instead of riding and falling of horses, but it is just life, it is playing up for past two weeks already after our St. bernard pup bashed it , but you can not blame horse for it)
Puika really comes when you call him, and that “accident” game looked scary for me, I was really worried that horse when he kneeled down can hurt peter, but it is the way how peter is building his relationship with Puika. Hope it will work. I would like to weed and pick up strawberries without Puika nicking them stright in front of me
Puika, we send love from our farm to yours from Arizona!!
Anna—you are wonderful!!
Anna, my husband and I love reading about your adventures with Puika. He sounds a lot like my husband’s horse, our horse also play nips, paws when we leave him in his stall, whinnies to great us every day when we come to play with him… he just loves attention, handling, grooming, riding, everything!
We keep a jolly ball in his stall for him, and he collects feed buckets from all of his neighbors to play with.
We have never completely stopped his mouthy behavior. We are going to try your metal ended crop trick:yes: So far, instead of us training him, he has trained us to stay a safe distance from his nibbling mouth:winkgrin:
Good Luck with Puika and keep updating us on your progress!
Anna! We need an update…
So far nothing exciting. My cowboy fell of the horse two more times (both his own fault, not horse, all when he mounts the horse, but luckily Peter somehow remembers how to fall off the horse and went away with nothing except his neverending painful knees which is not making bareback riding easier.
The second time he was so upset so he sat down in the middle of the road and lectured about everything, and horse was rubbing his nose on him, and did not walked away.
Todays excitement was a thunderstom which appeared out of the blue (it is not at all to have thunder here so early in spring) so we needed to rush out and quickly get the horse back in box (he does not like thunder at all and gets really nervous). It was quite a task, but was done quickly as horse let bridle on very quickly - he wanted inside ASAP.
And yes, I have my own personal battle here - nothing horse related, this baby is 5 days old orphan kitten. He arrived yesterday, as all rescues were full, so I agreed. His brother already died, but this baby does quite well so far. So peter is out with horse, and I’m mostly inside busy with baby nursing. Not much chances but it would be such a shame not to try.

So probably some news will come on Sunday when my mum will arrive - she is jumping on one leg in excitement to meet the horse. But not much fun - on Saturday here will snow again… I WANT SPRING! :uhoh:
I just found this thread and read it all in one go. I think it’s my favorite CotH thread ever.
Anna, I love your posts and you and Peter are doing phenomenally well with the handsome Puika. You’re a natural!
Oh Anna, good luck with the kitten, he’s so precious
I just love the photo too, I love the contrast between the tiny kitten and Peter’s (?) masculine hands.
It instantly reminded me of the very famous black and white picture of a muscular man’s arm outstretched with a tiny newborn baby laying on it.
I tried to Google the pic, but couldn’t find it.
I think it might be time for your cowboy to start using a saddle! We don’t want to mess up his knees, Puika needs his daily rides. Do you have access to a saddle that may fit him?
Searching. For used saddle that may fit. Not an easy job. New one is out of the budget at present… Very unusual, isn’t it?
Hi Anna,
We’re so glad you’ve continued to share your experiences with Puika on the board. This thread is the reason we started the “BB recommendations” thread in Off Course, because you found us through a dog board!
I’m sure some off the members would be happy to give you advice on what to look for in a saddle for Puika. I wanted to add a suggestion that our Giveaways forum might be a place to post a request for a free used saddle that would fit the bill if you’re having trouble finding one near you–you could post a link to this thread so people had some background too. Shipping costs might be a little steep, but if the saddle itself is free, it might not be too bad.
Our best wishes for you, Peter and the wonderful new addition to your family!
Oh my gosh, this has to be the best thread ever on COTH. How did I miss this?!
Anna, my mother is 100% Latvian!
Your horse is beautiful. I hope you continue to share him with us.
Thank You all for your support!
The shipping costs is a bit steep, but for the light saddle it would be not so bad. 20 pounds is about $50, 40 punds - $150. Of course, shipping a heavy saddle then would be out of the question. Maybe I will try, really, who knows. So far I had not find any saddle offer, and no response to my adds at all. Seems like number of horses here is growing faster than number of saddle.
Anyway, thank you a lot for the idea!
ShowMeTheGlory, best greetings to your mother! Sveiciens!
Anna, maybe you could try a bareback pad with stirrups? That way it would be like a saddle, Peter would have some support, and it would be lighter and cheaper to ship.
Best wishes to you all, especially that precious kitten. I love reading your updates!
