NYT Article on Trans riders

Timely for Pride Month.
& to me, the approach was thought-provoking.

“Timely for Pride Month”

Duh. It didn’t appear by accident . No different then the priest pedophile stories that are always published during Holy Week.

Okay, but I don’t see the comparison you posit :woman_shrugging:
One recognizes acceptance (for the most part), your example is far from that.

Proud to participate in a sport that from a very young age taught me tolerance, then acceptance, then love for people who want to live as they are.

Because I look different. But that didn’t matter. They didn’t see an outcast with facial scars. Or perhaps they did, and that’s why they included me in their circle. To show me that I had worth.

They tolerated, accepted and loved me.

We’re all just human beings who love horses. After all.

What a disgusting comparison

Super cool that people can come on here and imply that trans people are pedophiles

What a weird equivalence. Transgender individuals and the inclusion they feel in the horse world to priests who have historically preyed on vulnerable children. Raped. Molested. I’m at a loss for words.

@red_mares Pls come back & say this was not your intent.
Do you have/have you ever had experience with anyone non-binary or trans?

Not all. My intent was to highlight that nothing is published by accident. Every Holy Week, the media intentionally highlights the problems of the Catholic Church. It’s not an accident on their part. They do it to be offensive and further their agenda - disparaging religion.

Similarly, publishing the article you linked was obviously going to be published during pride month. It’s when they highlight everything trans. Their intent wasn’t to be offensive in this case, but to further their agenda - advocating for transgenders.

On most of the other stuff, we can agree to disagree. If I am ever showing against a guy in a Ladies’ driving class, things will not be pretty. The rest of you are good with playing second fiddle to men, that’s your choice; not mine.

BTW, I have a cousin who is trans. He has obvious mental issues and has had them for decades. ‘Becoming a woman’ was his way of dealing with his shitty life. I heard he may be going back to being a guy because wearing a dress doesn’t change what’s happened in his life.

My sister has a stepdaughter who is transgender. The girl also has a history of mental issues, but her biggest issue is that she’s a manipulative bitch who will do anything for attention. She made it her mission to split up her parents a kid and succeeded.

Yikes. I don’t think much more needs to be said.

Great article! Equestrian sports have always been coed, so I don’t see why anyone would get their knickers (or breeches) in a twist.

Thanks so much for that!

This post continued full speed down the offensive path.

Your family issues hardly encompass all of transgender issues.
I’ve had a wider experience with both post-operative & in transition individuals & not a single one had any obvious mental problem as you described.
As for driving against men, Turnout, Pleasure, Reinsmanship… Heck! any & all ADS/CAA classes are not segregated by sex. The Ladies & Gentlemen to drive are just added classes to my mind, like Antique or Utility.
CDEs don’t separate sexes either.
I hardly consider showing in a division that doesn’t separate sexes 2nd fiddle.
