What lovely bone, and sweet expression this fellow has. What is his name?
He’s lovely! Do you do dressage with him or does he jump too?
Thank you! His name is Truman
Dressage! I’m not a jumper but of all the horses I’ve ever known that I trust enough take me with them, he’d be one.
Conformation and disposition are the two basics you need to consider. ASB and their Arab cross seem like suitable breeds. The caveat there is to find one that has never been in a bitting rig.
Wow… those are some solid legs! What a nice boy!
Hahaha he is pretty beefy, that’s for sure! At the time-late summer/fall of 2020-I had been looking at a handful of OTTBs, all who had some flavor of hoof issue. Then I met him, looked at his legs/feet and it was a done deal.
@LilyandBaron I think it’s time for an update on your new guy, since you started this thread and it’s still going!
I’m still thrilled with my choice, but just baby steps in our first year together. Rhythm/relaxation! Happy family stuff with babies eclipsed big horse things, other than the horse purchase for me, so I’ll have a more substantive update come spring:). I’ve kept tabs on many of the stunning horses I looked at in my search, and happy to see so many going to great homes.
Not a fan of this style of riding which is popular among certain cultures. All the horses do is piaffe and passage. They don’t do much else and it’s often entirely incorrect. Total lack of a foundation of forward and on the bridle, I mean, he’s 4.
