Correct. I went on to talk about (my best understanding of) that in my second paragraph. Full original post:
Don Geniro: please note that the fill has come out of the bottom of that jump, but it is still basically the same oxer, and it will not be necessary to spook at it a second time. Thank you for your consideration.
And yet, no consideration was given to your comments (comments I shared, by the way) He is SO sharp. Alex does an exceptional job with him.
I’ve not heard of one having a catastrophic ligament rupture in a hunter derby.
I was responding to your post, which made it clear that you have seen comments online complaining that the long routes in the cross country were confusing for some people. I’ll take your word for it. I don’t want to seek out the whinging.
Outstanding job.
I know a young Chinese student whose mother occasionally “has too much wine and buys horses” (quote from her daughter.) Nice horses, apparently she mostly gets them from Ludger Beerbaum’s barn. The student is currently in college preparing for medical school and probably has no need of additional nice horses. I feel like I need to call up the daughter and ask if her mother would like to buy a couple for Alex.
U.S. is having rails and time faults.Oh well…
Is the average hunter derby broadcast anywhere that anyone would hear about a horse hurting itself while doing a hunter derby?
Edit to add - I think horses injuring themselves while we (humans) play at our sports is very sad. Not saying otherwise. I am just questioning the thought that having not heard a about a horse having a catastrophic injury at something equaling that it did not happen.
I think Doug did well and met expectations.
Philip may have let you (U.S.) down, or at least not performed as expected
The French rider completely ate it in the double… that horse is a saint!
That was….inspiring
I definitely would have bailed
It is weird. Perhaps the new scoring that allows this, is part of the FEI’s effort to “include” the nations that haven’t had the training or equestrian history to generate interst in Equestrian sport. Every country that is relatively new to the game is to the FEI’s benefit yes?
Aaargh Karim! Triton was jumping so well before that double!
Just before coming in, both he and his horse fell after a warm-up jump.
Kudos to them for competing anyway and such a shame for that loss of rhythm in the turn before the double!
YEEEAHHH Nicolas!!!
was anyone else loudly clicking at the screen to encourage them through that???
If you fall in the warm-up and on top of that you’re not in contention for a medal, then why the devil do you go in the ring? Trot off to make sure you’re sound, jump a confidence-restorer, and go back to the barn.
FINALLY a clear round! Way to go Absolut Gold!
That pink-and-white cherry blossom triple is beautiful, but proving to be a consistent bogey. Looks almost like an optical illusion.
Jung is a star!
That is what they did.
And the fact that they went in anyway…I guess that is why they compete in the Olympics. True champions.
After having, for the second olympics in a row, managed to heave his horse out of a tough spot on cross country, seemingly through sheer force of will and his own plucky kindness, he can have the two rails in showjumping. I’ll get over it. We weren’t realistically going to medal, but everybody got around with no cross country problems, so, we got somewhere.
