Actually I am more related to the Brits than to the Americans from Australia.
Oh gosh, so proud for Japan!
What a brilliant round!
What a round for Kazu!!! You could really see his show jumping experience. After all he’s sacrificed, that one really got me. I so hope he continues his eventing career, what a phenomenal talent!
Well done Kazuma Tomoto!
ANDREW HOY!!! LEGEND!
But I have seen a horse shatter a pastern longeing to get ready for a derby…
Julia Krajewski! WTG!
Thrilled for Julia to win, especially after losing Chipmunk to MJ
I LOVE Julia’s SF mare.
We had a horse catastrophically shatter her pastern doing a 2’ class at our IEA regionals just going around a turn on very good footing. Yes, these types of injuries happen everywhere in every discipline doing whatever.
ETA: It made no sort of news whatsoever. Just because you don’t hear about it doesn’t mean they don’t happen.
Amazing quality of horses and riding in the top 5 or so… just a different caliber than the rest of the field.
The only one I’ve seen happened to a ostensibly healthy and sound horse in the stall. It went in sound and came out three legged lame.
Wonderful conclusion to the Eventing. Some very excellent rides and good sportsmanship.
Lovely ride by the winner Julia Krajewski!
Kazuma Tomoto! A lovely ride throughout. 4th individual. Well done!
I am especially pleased that Julia won, after having chipmunk snatched away the way he was. And she was on her third string horse!

Don Geniro: please note that the fill has come out of the bottom of that jump, but it is still basically the same oxer, and it will not be necessary to spook at it a second time. Thank you for your consideration.
I look forward to seeing Alex on an equally talented but saner horse. Hopefully this finish helps get one going his way.
That’s a brilliant horse, but he’s got a loose board that isn’t always under the rider’s control.
As mentioned earlier, I think the Chinese and Japanese teams are coming for some medals. Maybe by next Olumpics?

And she was on her third string horse!
Not after today! Way to rise to the occasion. What a lovely, lovely mare and kudos to Julia for bringing along such a class animal.
I don’t know about the Chinese. They got around taking the slow way every time and had a boatload of time. But studying under WFP, who knows?

After having, for the second olympics in a row, managed to heave his horse out of a tough spot on cross country, seemingly through sheer force of will and his own plucky kindness, he can have the two rails in showjumping. I’ll get over it. We weren’t realistically going to medal, but everybody got around with no cross country problems, so, we got somewhere.
Agreed. Phillip wouldn’t have been in the individual finals at all if he had not done what Phillip does and slid that horse over the belly-flop jump on XC without a penalty – or a stop – or a retirement.
At last a female gold medalist in eventing … long long time coming. Julia is so absolutely deserving.
All good rides in this final. That last group in the top 10 were brilliant.
