Does anyone have any info on what kind of foals Casall throws? What kind of mare does he cross best with?
Why isnt there more foals by Casall in the states? IS it difficult to get semen? Expensive?
Casall frozen is not available in the US hence the lack of foals here. A shame but it is what it is.
Hello,
In order to use Casall you need to be a Holsteiner Verband member with a Holsteiner mare standing in Holstein, otherwise you cannot bred to him. Also La Silla has the breeding rights to him but they do not sell the semen.
Casall gives typey, modern and correct foals with good movement. He shows great consistency in his progeny.
He tends to give medium size horses.
Casall is already considered a top producer and is in very high demand. Maybe he will turn out a better sire than the legendary Caretino, but only time will tell.
We can already see some progeny from Casall competing in the top of the sport such as Powerplay who just ended third in the Münster Grand Prix with Pius Schwizer.
Corcega La Silla is also having good results with Rolf-Göran Bengtsson.
This is mine:

And this is a very interesting young stallion I saw at La Silla:

We had the first two Casall offspring born in the US, but we bred both mares in Germany and imported them in foal. He is a refinement sire, so he needs a heavier, larger mare.
This is the mare, Ca-ching S -
This is the stallion, Casallio S -

Showjumper, do you still have theses two? All of the casalls seem to be a very pretty type. How are the temperments?
Here is a video of the 3y/o Casall I wanted to buy, but unfortunately the price will certainly exceed my budget…
Today there was a presentation of the horses that will be auctioned and the Casall showed again his scope, talent and technique.
As discussed previously he is out of a sister of Contendro, Stamm 741.
He will be sold on Friday.
Here is a video of the day he was selected to be included in the auction: http://youtu.be/TEpIWtqUWM8

:eek::eek::eek::eek:
Based off the incredible number of his offspring in the showring at the moment…I expect Casall to be the #1 ranked sire in the world in about 5 years or so.
He even has one in Grand Prix dressage bred by the breeder of Contendro I & II . His name is Crescendo by Casall / Lord .
I will breed several mares to him in the next 2 years.
What an incredible stallion! I’m also interested in what type of mare he crosses best with??

Holy mother of g*d!!!
So, to breed to Casall one would have to go to Germany, purchase a great Holsteiner mare (is that even possible?) and then become a member of the Holsteiner Verband (again, is that even possible for a US citizen?)?
No one ever said this “breeding thing” was gonna be easy.

Yes on the Holsteiner mare and yes on verband membership. You simply fill out a form and send them their money just like you do here and poof…you are a Holsteiner Verband member.
Of course you can get good mares. I just bought a premium Quinar / Cassini I mare in foal to Casall for a client in Maryland. It’s all in who you know.
Love our Quinar daughters! What a shame as he was still relatively young (especially given the ages of some stallions still competing). Good to hear there is still frozen semen.
Be smart and breed to a stallion that could be the new Casall in four years when it comes to give good offspring. Corminth!!
