Ok milk testing peeps! What's the longuest you've had a mare hold to 6.2 pH? COLT!

My mare foaled at like 9:30pm so I thought I would finally get some sleep that night but no, she kept me up all that night too because she wouldn’t chill out. She was stall walking her butt off, chasing her filly all over the stall. Finally around 3am I caught her lying down and quick gave her a shot of xylazine.

She’s driving me nuts. Doing a whole lot of nothin’, standing in her stall, clearly uncomfortable, clearly… not relaxed, yet not restless as in walking around. Just not herself.

Her milk is stable, nothing new. Heck I think it went back in progression even. My. As long as I’ll have to suffer is this foal watch, I’ll still consider myself lucky.

anything this am?

No. :frowning:

What the heck!? I don’t know what to think anymore and of course, I can’t even try to think clearly I am so tired. Sheesh. 72 hours now since the 6.2 with the canary colored edges… More hours since the first 6.2 period.

I am starting to wonder if my strips are wrong… But I have two sets, and they agree. :sigh:

Your mare is teaching you about patience!:wink:

Thank you Mare, but I’ve got kids for that too.

Really, she’s waiting for you to pass out from exhaustion, so she can surprise you with her beautiful baby! Has she started dripping milk, yet? My girls love to foal on weekends…vet costs more, then :). Should be any time now!

Nothing yet, though she seemed more alert tonight… :sigh:

This is her “evil” plan!!:lol:

Well… Guess what? NO FOAL! :dead:

I am in the exact same boat, my mare is hsowing every sings of foaling, except for the actual foal part, lol! I thought for sure last weekend and still nothing. She seems to get right on the edge and then same just giddingg your not tired enough!!

No foal. :frowning:

This time, I am convinced my strips are not working properly. We’ll see tomorrow, my SO ordered a fancy schmancy digital pH meter for his homebrewery and of course, I’ll be allowed to use it for my milk testing.

It was supposed to be here Friday, but yeah… Post office didn’t get it here and today is a statutory holiday! Ack!

I’ll be able to compare tomorrow.

You are not alone–my Davignon mare has been testing at 6.2 for the past 4 days. I was watching her so closely that I had another mare foal and missed half of it!

I am going crazy for you just thinking about it!!! Hope this foal comes VERY soon for you!!

I don’t think cursing is allowed?

I just thought of trying my strips in straight distilled water… 6.2!

So we’ve been going sleepless FOR NOTHING.

GRRR.

OMG, I am soooo sorry! That totally stinks.

that sucks!!! argh! well good news is you can get some sleep now…

Yeah, well at least I am relieved it still means that, in theory, the test works! I was getting discouraged as it had worked so well for me that previous years!

Phew.

I shouldn’t say this… but she’s dripping milk now.
