Olympic Dressage

I’m just enjoying also seeing some older horses looking and going beautifully. I think it’s speaking volumes on how our concept of old in the horse world is shifting as we get better at maintaining these athletes

I think this Luxembourg rider is one of my favorites I’ve seen. So quiet with the aids that I can barely notice them.

I’m behind as I was riding but wow that little mare, hope she stays fit and well, doing that at 8? What might she be like with a bit more time!

I thought I had heard that the riders could choose background music. This, after an Olympics in which some riders had music that did not suit the horse or test, while others were helped by good music.

Ahh Mopsie trouble on the reinback…come on Steffen…

Grrr John, it was NOT Mopsie, it was Bella Rose that Snoop called the crip walking horse. Some random TikTokker called Mopsie the Rave Horse.

You guys are liking Lucinda for the commentating?
I watched yesterday. She commented about the four beat canter (on a normal horse which had a standard 3 beat canter) She called one rider by the horse’s name. And she won’t shut up!
I hope to hell she doesn’t comment all over the freestyles. I hate that.

Very tactful riding; seems Mopsie just wants to rave :stuck_out_tongue:

Looks like Steffen had a lot to manage today and did so very tactfully…Really too bad the US hasn’t had the competition they wanted.

Beautifully managed, and lovely jambettes for my fav raver Mopsie.

This group could potentially see a top 2 finisher who wouldn’t have otherwise qualified for the freestyle…

She did the commentary for all of eventing before doing dressage, so I imagine she’s going a bit loopy from trying to keep so many riders straight. Can’t say I blame her.

Hopefully this lovely French rider can top 72…

Do the GP scores carry forward to Team/Ind competitions ?

Just looked it up;

5 Classification of the Competitions
5.1 Teams
5.1.1. Only the Grand Prix Special Competition counts towards the Team classification.
5.1.2. The winning team is the one (1) having the highest total score of their three (3) Athletes
after their results of the Grand Prix Special. The second placed team is the one (1) with
the next highest total score and so on. The final score for each team is calculated by
adding the final total percentages in the Grand Prix Special of each Team member
5.1.3. Ties: in the case of equality of score the winning team is the one (1) whose lowest classified
team Athlete in the Grand Prix Special has the best result in the Grand Prix Special. If still
tied the same rule will be applied to the second lowest classified Athlete in the Grand Prix
Special and so on. If still tied, the teams will share the rank sorted by NOC Code.
5.2 Individuals
5.2.1. Only the FEI Grand Prix Freestyle Competition counts towards the final Individual
Classification.
5.2.2. The winning individual Athlete is the one (1) with the highest final percentage in the
Grand Prix Freestyle Competition. The second placed individual Athlete is the one (1) with
the next highest total percentage in the Grand Prix Freestyle, and so on. Percentage scores
are given with numbers to three (3) places after the decimal point.
5.2.3. For publication of results refer to Article 435 of the Dressage Rules.
5.2.4. Ties: If two (2) Athletes have the same final score, the higher artistic marks in the Grand
Prix Freestyle shall decide. If still tied the higher marks for harmony shall decide. If still
tied the higher marks for choreography shall decide. If still tied, the Athletes will share
the rank (sorted by NOC Code and then by Athlete name).
