Olympic Dressage

Wow, I really thought Denmark would come out on top.

The second half of Dalera’s test looked quite laboured, there were issues in the contact (tongue showing), and Jessica rode with a completely loose curb rein. Made for a strange picture IMHO.

A lot of horses appeared to struggle today, not as zingy as normal. LG commented on how many laboured in the final pa-pi-pa up the CL.

Might be an interesting FS tomorrow, given that the non-team riders will be on horses that have not had to ride the GPS today.

(Just checked the weather, 25°, that’s like our late winter weather. No wonder my horse is a lazy blob :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:)

She always rides with a loose curb.

You’re right, she does. But this time it stood out to me even more so than usual. Maybe I just noticed it more because of the poor contact?
Don’t get me wrong, it was not a bad test, just not as polished and effortless as in the past.

The GP special is a long, strenuous test, so it’s not surprising the horses are looking labored by the final line. Plus factoring in the heat, especially for the later riders. Hopefully they perk up a bit for the freestyle tomorrow!

This just popped up on Google. Wow, I can probably afford an Olympic dressage horse!

Wouldn’t it be cool if Snoop Dogg has become so smitten with dressage that he decides to sponsor a few talented riders? Surely he can afford some very top notch horses to aim for Los Angeles!

I love those gators! Of course Martha’s boots are totally perfect.

I bet they are uncomfortable to walk around in all day! She probably can’t wait to get them off. And I wonder if the heat was making her legs swell. But maybe not as bad as 3 inch heels.

The first horse today for the team final, an Aussie, had what I thought it was a lovely soft ride without tension more than an open frame. Everything look correct, no toe flinging. I’m curious why his score was only in the 70 percentile?

I just don’t understand this sport. Just yesterday I was telling a friend how much I enjoyed all the correct riding I saw during the qualifier rides. Nice open throat latches, free gaits and fluid movements. Beautiful riding. Today I’m watching the finals and it’s nothing but short necks, BTV heads, choppy gaits. I can’t stand watching it.
