Olympic Dressage

If snoop dog is doing the freestyle commentary I’m debating buying a VPN and watching the CBC feed…

Nanna Skodborg Merrald had a lovely ride on Blue Hors Zepter who is 16. Really nice to watch! 78.028

Good morning! Lovely way to start your day!
I have an annual exam at 815 and it’s a 30 minute drive. So I’ll be getting to the parking lot by 755 so I can watch Marcus and Jane.

I quite liked the Brazilian rider in this first group. Thought the scoring for his extended trot at the end was a bit harsh though. But really nice pair.

Stands look more full than eventing dressage!

So annoying- we tried to get tickets to ANYTHING equestrian. We were in the lottery and got our picks, and they had some weird packet system. You had to buy tickets to three events. Any three sports.
I couldn’t get anything. The only equestrian left were VIP packets. So we didn’t go.
Turns out people were buying up equestrian because they were less expensive. The reselling them I suppose.

Big discussion here about the lack of spurs for Vanagaite.

She’s wearing them now, though?

This is what I’m squinting to see they’re going on and on about it - I can’t work out what I’m looking at

I think they said she went spurless for another competition, but I’m questioning myself now haha

They certainly laboured the point!!

This French pair is very pleasant to watch. Shame about the 1s.

All of the French riders (eventers and now dressage) that have gone so far have had such lovely, kind rides on their horses! Really like how relaxed their horses have seemed.

The little black french horse was just so light and lovely and not crammed short in the neck. What a joy.

The first Swedish rider(Ramel) in Group B was lovely - this is this horse’s 3rd Olympics!

Current German rider (Wandres) - lots of swishing of his horse’s tail, rider is pretty busy with his hands/body/legs.

Agree, lots of swishing and I hate the trend of legs parallel to the ground for cueing the changes. BUT that horse was an absolute metronome for its trotwork and passage/piaffe.

On the contrary, I found the Swedish horse’s mouth quite busy.

Lovely horse! But yeah, I wasn’t impressed with the rider, especially compared to how quietly the previous one sat. :woman_shrugging:t3:

Love seeing the Iberian horse with Poland rider up.

Abi Lyle’s horse is so fun to watch and I can’t wait to see how those piaffes develop over time.
