Thanks, If my replacement credit comes before the equestrian events are over maybe I’ll give this a try.

It would make sense the points reset after the top thirty five is picked (day four, not today as many people were thinking and commenting on here), but like I said on the live stream them made it seem like teams and individual reset. I could have heard wrong. They could have spoken wrong. I’m sure COTH is right.

Who are the commentators on the live stream anyway? I love them![/QUOTE]

The team scores DO reset on Day 2. All of the teams are starting on a clean slate for team medal purposes. Day 2 and Day 3 run nation’s cup style, except that only the top 8 teams compete on Day 3.

But in order to determine the top 35 who go to the Finals on day 4, the points are totaled across the three rounds for EVERYONE.

So let’s say you’re Taizo Sugitani, and you had 16 faults day 1. Day 2, you jump a clear round. That’s super for your team. Day 3, another clear round. Your contribution to your team is a clean sheet. But your 3 round total is 16 faults. Despite helping your team, with 16, it’s going to be tough for you to be in the top 35 to compete on the individual.

But let’s say everyone else has a brutal day tomorrow and you make it into the top 35. You start Day 4 on a zero score.

So that’s how both the team and the individual reset, but faults still carry. Super confusing, but what can you do.

For my money, we are lucky it works this way and not WEG style…if our team is going to have three poles, yesterday was the day to do it both for our shot at team as well as individual medals. I’m hoping it really motivates them to not take anything for granted, especially with Guilherme Jorge designing. Never forget the yellow pole triples at the World Cup in Vegas.

Please correct me if I’m wrong, but I would have thought that as the top 60 individuals can continue, that would leave anyone with 12 or more faults (the 61st place finisher) done after the first round on Sunday . So while Taizo may well be double clear in the upcoming team rounds, he would not be counted as an individual. Which would be a shame. He looked so nice at the jog. I am most NOT keen on the reset to zero faults for the final 35. That’s how Big Star was robbed of his medal in London. And some enterprising individual who wants to tune his horse on Thursday if he has a couple of rails in hand can do so with impunity if it becomes obvious that the rest of his team is out of contention. Not that anyone would have the huevos to do that at the Olympics.

Bumping this up for Tuesday viewing. Order of go here: http://rio2016.live.fei.org/Jumping2/startlist

Some of the jumps are so neat! I love that tree jump.

This course is brutal.

Did the announcer just say “Here comes Chief, by Verdi, who we still see jumping sometimes nowadays?” Yes, like in 40 trips!

Brutal indeed - no one is taking their sweet time either. The time allowed alone is a challenge!

I think the water line (again) is going to prove most brutal, and that last line possibly.

Not to mention the time. I think we will see around the same number of clears/fours as the first round, if these riders are paying attention to their pace.

We’ve seen a clear is 100% possible.

Did the Egyptian horse loose a boot or something? I saw something fall off after that first combo.

Good for Ramiro and Appy Cara today! Just the 1 time fault, well done after the big slip and consequent stop on Sunday.

Grr, the live results on the website are not refreshing, so I have no clue who is on course right now (just order of go are posted).

It was working perfectly during the dressage a few days ago :frowning:

Way to THROW IT DOWN Valinski, Matt and Lauriep!!!

It seems to be updating quickly.

Oh no, Scott Keach with a fall at the water!!!

Am I the only one who appreciated the way the ring crew coralled and grabbed the horse quietly?
One was patting his face and the other one was holding him waiting for the groom with the halter. It was nice to see their competence and obvious horse love.
One good thing out of a bad moment for Scott (who didn’t even go over to the horse, just walked out).

I agree. It’s all too easy for someone who doesn’t know better to make a situation like that into a disaster.

that was my first thought too - with the bridle hanging off like that, if horse or humans had panicked, there could have been a very bad outcome for that horse.

Not at all impressed with rider’s reaction to simply walk away
