Olympic Team Show Jumping Concludes Wednesday, August 17

that was my first thought too - with the bridle hanging off like that, if horse or humans had panicked, there could have been a very bad outcome for that horse.

Not at all impressed with rider’s reaction to simply walk away
Yeah, I get that it’s humiliating and frustrating to fall on the world’s stage like that, but to not even want to check on your multi-million dollar partner? Ick.

Even if the grounds crew aren’t horse people, they at least have good animal sense. Kudos to them.

Is there live scoring anywhere for those of us without the luxury of streaming at work?

Thanks!

They mentioned (I believe) that Cassio Rivetti was listed as DQ’d…do we know why? Did I miss something obvious?

Wondering the same thing - and they specifically said disqualified.

in stark contrast to the cool Brazilian eventer who helped rebuild the fence after he was tossed over it while his horse was quietly touring the ring at a nice canter on its own.

Kent is clear!!

What a round for Kent! Voyeur was jumping out of his skin.

WOW, fantastic round by Kent Farrington!

Whew! Voyeur looked GOOD!

Wow! Kent had a plan and stuck to it. What a great round. He made it look easy.

What is going on in the crowd?! It sounds a little scary.

Gotta love the announcer. “I remember my first beer as well”

Loved the comment about the disturbance in the crowd - “I remember my first beer as well”

COTH is live blogging the round, as well, if you want details for each rider

Kent’s round was beautiful. Commentator: “A world-class round by a world-class rider”.

I really hope that Spanish rider was in the zone and not disturbed by the screaming idiot in the crowd.

Anyone watching via the NBC Sports channel on their Roku? I have no announcer audio (have ambient crowd sounds), but my closed captioning is working…

That rider from Spain looked pissed off. I don’t blame her. Distractions are expected but that was excessive.

I was wondering what happened… I stepped away from my computer and came back to her leaving the ring looking like she was speaking angrily to someone.

Am I the only one who appreciated the way the ring crew coralled and grabbed the horse quietly?
One was patting his face and the other one was holding him waiting for the groom with the halter. It was nice to see their competence and obvious horse love.
One good thing out of a bad moment for Scott (who didn’t even go over to the horse, just walked out).
The groom with the halter was actually the intrepid ringmaster, Pedro! He’s become very famous for doing ringmaster-ing at Olympics, World Cup events, etc etc etc. Wonderful guy and horse person, plus he usually wears hilarious country-specific costumes to events. He wasn’t allowed to for this Olympics though… but it didn’t keep him from wearing some groovy sunglasses on Sunday. Just a fun tidbit for those watching
