OMG the horrible

Has anyone seen the movie Moondance Alexander?

So awful.

I think I hurt myself snorting.

So bad it’s good!

The entire movie can be watched on YouTube:

It’s well… Sarcam02 took the words from my mouth
Enjoy

Oh I love that movie lol

That movie is fantastic! Moondance can only afford rubber boots but shows up wearing a GPA. So great.

My roommates and I watched this movie a ton in college.

Now listen MyGiantPony! HJ people cannot be choosy. At least this movie does not lead up towards a RACE on a ZEBRA… There is jumping. There is Don Johnson. There is the adorable kid with the “natural seat.” There is the terrifying colic episode in which the horse is allowed to lie down. There is the wildly inappropriate paint. There are jumps with flowers. It’s all good.

At least the pinto doesn’t talk like a zebra
At least she spends her money on a properly fitting helmet, instead of buying custom boots.

Dude, you can buy a properly fitting helmet for less than the $500 a GPA costs.

Also, I doubt the character “bought” that helmet. Looks more like whoever did the wardrobe got confused.

I thought it was cute… could have done without the the colic scene and tying the horse with a bridle to the stall… other than that is wasn’t too bad for a horse move. Most are reallllllly improperly done where they use different horses…

Like the Saddle Club. Hate it so much that I love it haha.

Sasha Cohen should just stick to ice skating commentary.

Never heard of it before, and now I’m sucked into watching this trainwreck…

Thanks.

There was one of the many Flicka spin-off movies that was pretty decent. It was about eventing. But it seemed to be based of the Young Riders stuff and the riding was decent. I am pretty sure Clint Black was in it

Of course Flicka was suppose to be a mustang and looked more like a 16.2 hand TB…

LOL I kept telling my son who wanted to go swimming - after the movie…

And maybe it hit a soft spot for me because I rode and Appy TB when I was young in the Hunters and did pretty good.

I was totally expecting Moondance to be the name of the majickal stallion she saves…guess this is how I’ll be spending my day off!

When it came up in a previous discussion, I was mixed up on the names, and I wondered what Borat was doing in a horse movie.

And of course, then I had to watch it. It is beyond bad.

On top of all the questionable horse-related things, I remember thinking it was probably not the best idea to leave the teenage girl alone at the deserted farm all the time with Don Johnson’s character.

Borat could only have improved it! Aside from the rubber boots in a hunter derby issue, this movie hits all of the worn out stereotypes. The curmudgeonly, reluctant horse trainer. The snobby rich girls. The misfit teen who of course has a speshul and majikal bond with the horse.
I also thought the horse was named Moondance until I watched the movie. Nope, hippie parents. I don’t remember - does the girl’s mom end up romantically involved with Don Johnson’s character? (Who of course would then dump Mom for the kid, in true DJ fashion).

Nope. Mom ends up with one of her art students. Who is the father of misfit teen’s crush. AWKWARD.

And dear God in Heaven. Did you notice the braids on the majikal pinto? If Don Johnson’s character was a grand prix rider, wouldn’t he know something about turnout? Yes, it’s hard to braid a mane that hangs halfway down the neck, but someone on the set knew how to braid based on the other horses.

Did it bother anyone else that all the girls had ponytails sticking out from their helmets at the show - until they got in the ring, when suddenly they had perfect hunter hair? And does it make me a hunter princess for noticing it in the first place?

I didn’t remember, either. I think I’ve tried to block the movie from my brain, since I regret wasting 90 minutes of my life watching it. I don’t think I even wasted 90 minutes in a row since it was so bad. It may have been dragged out over a week or so.

I also remember Don Johnson as a pretty attractive specimen from his earlier years, so it was surprising that they managed to make him so unappealing, especially in a horse movie.
