OMG the horrible

Two of the horses in the “junior hunter division” were ridden in figure 8 nosebands.

Somehow I have never heard of this movie, but I gather it involves a person (?) named Moondance, a pinto, Don Johnson, and BORAT.

Ain’t nothing gonna stop me from watching it now.

It doesn’t actually include Borat. That would have improved it.

(Sasha Cohen and Sacha Baron Cohen are most definite not the same person LOL)

and BORAT.[/QUOTE]

Not that Sasha Cohen, but the figure skater.

I watched it last night after reading this thread…it’s pretty bad . Entertaining enough though

I watched it this afternoon, very cheesy, and I cried when checker had that colic episode… And clapped when they won…, I’m so useless

I watched it today for the first time. I liked the story but they could have had someone on set who actually KNEW how hunters were supposed to be turned out. I love how the kid went from riding western and not jumping to jumping 3ft+ in… 5 minutes. I wish I improved that quickly. Besides that, it was a feel good movie, not nearly as well done as Sylvester, but not god awful like Flicka or Racing Stripes.

I stayed up late one night and ended up making snarky comments to my friend about it. All of the comments could be summed up by this one, “If she had to buy rubber boots and a second hand jacket, how in the hell did she afford a $400 helmet?”

I found the play-by-play commentary of the hunter rounds hilarious.

No horse death in Sylvester? Would love to watch but don’t want to cry

The paint they show going around the course isn’t always the paint from the movie. The scenes flash to one that is in a D ring (with very different way of going), back to the one in that western-y O bit. WHYY?? Obv the horse can yump the yumps. It’s already terrible. Don’t screw it up even more! lol

I rode hunters most of my career and I never knew they were that exciting.

It was on Hallmark on Saturday and I watched it. I had seen it before several years ago, but was able to catch more of the discontinuities that people have mentioned.

I also loved how the show majikally had two ribbons and two coolers for the winners. Or does that actually happen (I’m an eventer, so not sure of hunter show protocol).

I admit, I kind of got teary-eyed when Checkers was sick, while laughing through the whole concept that if he just got up, he’d be all better.

I also thought it was funny when the snobby girl called him Crackers. I actually thought, “That would be a cute name for a horse!”

I heard/read all the horrible comments so when I watched it, it wasn’t that bad - compared to what else is on TV LOL. I liked how she managed to go from never showing in anything anywhere to being in this championship how does that work again… and really why in every single horse flick the animal has to have a scary episode of colic? How about a nice good old 3 legged lame abscess - will-it-pop-in time-for-my-first=time-ever-in-a-show-so-I’ve-entered-the championship hunter derby. i have to say the most annoying was the horse show commentators turned joan rivers fashion police. i have to say this was ‘better’ than some of the flicka remakes. can they please come up with a good horse movie one day

Not to get off topic, but does anyone know the name of the also-equally-awful horse movie with Zac Efron? Pretty sure that’s one he doesn’t put on his resume. lol

The Zac Efron movie is called the Derby Stallion. I haven’t seen it, I just googled it.

It’s too bad Kaley Couco (who plays Penny on The Big Bang Theory) is a little too mature now to do a teen-who-loves-horses movie, since she can actually ride a bit.

I don’t remember Horse in a Grey Flannel Suit and Misty being so bad, maybe they were just seemed less hokey.

I know there are things in Horse in the Gray Flannel Suit that might make you roll your eyes a bit, but that’s part of the charm. (A very young Kurt Russell pulling a horse trailer with his sports car? Really?) Plus it’s from an entirely different era, so it’s easier to just figure times have changed a little.

Worst.horse.movie.ever. My daughter and I still laugh about getting suckered into watching it. ;/
